Ok i have a 2003 sea ray 182 srx w/ a 4.3L mercruiser. Its sluggish out of the whole so i was thinking of putting a 4 or 5 blade prop. If i did would my boat be able to hold speeds better since it doesnt at all now? What other differences would i be able to tell besides better acceleration? Thanks

generally you will lose top end speed with more blades as there is more resistance. as for holding speed it just sounds like a driver issue to me. also try this page hope it helps you out.

Not enough info.

What prop is on now? aluminum, SS?

What pitch? 23", 21" 17"

Generally, go down two inches with a standard prop and you'll get better hole shot.

I run a 17" prop - stock was a 21"

If you are at 23" and go to a 4 blade, you'll see better performance, but not as good as, say, going to a 19" standard.

I have a Sea Ray 180 and changed to a 4 blade 18 pitch comptech prop. It made all the difference in the world. I would get one if I were you. You can order them from Overtons.

I run a 5 blade 19p prop with a 500lb sack in the bow......a retard could hold the speed, and hole shot is great, $$$$ but worth it......if you are gonna wakeboard with an i/o Rolling Eyes seems to hold the boat down in the back too ..... for a better wake, we ran a 3 blade 21p and it just didn't seem to have the same wake.....
