I am planning to install perfect pass to my Glastron SX175 with a Volvo Penta 4.3 V6 engine. Has anyone done the same? If so can you show me where you placed the thru hole paddle wheel and where you mounted the digital display.

Any pictures would be great.

Many thanks

Have you purchased the unit yet? If not, they will ask when you order it what your make/model is and what the engine is so that they give you the right parts for throttle linkage and a display gauge for your boat.

The instructions are pretty clear on where to put the paddle, and the gauge will just replace your factory speedo gauge? Are you wanting to keep the factory speedo?

Before you buy PP (if you haven't already), are you aware that there is a similar system out now that is GPS controlled? It is only a couple hundred bucks more than PP and doesn't require any hull drilling (if that is something you'd rather avoid).

Thanks for the info Pet575, I have had a quick look but it seems to only work for later engines, mine is a 4.3GL carb unit. Seems like the 2" hole is the only option at the moment.

Has anyone actually put pp on a glastron I/O 4.3 SX175?

You've had a quick look at PP or at the GPS product? If you're talking about PP, I have to disagree that it will only work for later engines. What year is your engine? If it has a push-to-open throttle assembly, it should work on just about any engine.

Yes I have looked at both, PP will work, GPS system will only work with later engines. I am more interested if someone has actually fitted the PP to a glastron, trying to understand where they fitted the paddle wheel and any problems / issues they encountered.

Thanks

Does Glastron have a special hull, small bilge area, or something else special about its hull design? I placed mine in my I/O just in front of the engine (when looking from the inside) and just to the port side of the boat's keel. Just make sure it is on a smooth part of the hull and that there are no strakes, depth finder transducers (or other things that might obstruct it) in front of it. Otherwise, it really doesn't matter where you put it as long as you're in front of the engine and on a smooth part of the hull. Closer to the keel is best.

I'll send you a few pics of mine if you want.

I'll look and see what I've got at home. I've got a handful of pics, but can't remember if I have a shot of the hull from the outside. I'll give you whatever I can for pictures of the install.
