I have an 03 SANTE with the Excaliber engine. Yesterday I started it on the hose to warmup the engine so I could change the oil (25 hour break-in) While warming up the engine it just shut off. I started it back up and it ran fine, no check engine light, and it ran for another 3-4 minutes and shutoff again. I looked around to make sure everything looked ok and started it again after finding no problems. It never shut off again.
Today I went out to the lake and the engine ran for about 15 minutes, as I was idling throught the harbor it shutoff again. This time it took a minute to get started, but it did start. I ran all day long with no more problems untill about 7:00 and it shut down again. This time it wouldn't start (starter turned, but wouldn't run) I had a few guys from out of town with me and they said a friend of theirs boat was doing the same thing and showed me some module on the engine to unplug and plug back in. After we did that the engine started right up.
Again it ran fine until agian at about 10:00 when I was puitting the boat on the trailer it shutoff again. This time it wouldn't start again, so I tried the trick they showed me earlier, but it didn;t work this time.
Has anyone had a problem like this with their Nautiques? It's very annoying and seems to happen with no kind of warning and no signs of problems. I'm afaid I will get stranded somewhere if this were to happen and the boat didn't start. I'm going to call my dealer tomorrow and see what they think, but I would still like to hear your opinions and if this has happened to others. _________________ Jason

| It is in your relay connections. One or more of them is making bad contact. If you don't know how to do it, take it to your dealer. They will do it under warranty. They can do it in about 10 minutes. They might want to water test it after words. I have seen it happen numerous times already. |

Jack V, thanks for the advice, I'm gonna call my dealer and see if they can give me some info about what I need to do before I take it to them... _________________ Jason

OK, here is the problem and fix for you... On further inspection the fuel pump wasn't getting power. The tech at the dealer said either the pump relay wasn't getting good connectin or the relay was bad. He said to check the connectors and make sure the pins in them were pushed in all the way. I checked all 3 relays and found no real problems, plugged them back in and turned the boat on. I heard the pump run so I started it, and it did without a problem.
Evidently this is a known problem at Nautiques accorrding to the tech. The main problem they are having is the pins for each wire not staying in the plug and getting pushed out the back of it. There fix was to get a small flathead screwdriver like for glasses and bend the tabs so the pins would stay in better.
Hope this info helps someone else out like it did me... _________________ Jason
