have a 2006 supra launch 20ssv with the rad a cage tower. all it has are 4 can speakers. interested in running an xm antenna wire and wiring for lights through it.
anyone have any advice on how this is accomplished?
seems like there are no holes large enough to really do the job?

You'll have to drill holes in the tube where required. Around 10-20mm holes is where you want to be - depending on wire thickness and amount of wires.

The tower uses 1/8th wall thickness aluminium tube so try and get gaskets that will match this (and match the size hole you drill).

gotta rub but i'll add mroe details later.

Cool

run* not rub! haha

Right continuing on -

Currently you will likely have speaker wires running down either the front port or front starboard side (the starboard side is pre drilled at the factory but speaker wire is easiest to run down the port side as its nearer the amps).

You're are going to have to remove the front feet of your tower to check out if there's any space to get your XM antenna wire down there.... there likely won't be So you will need to copy the way that the front feet are drilled.. but on the rears.

Only complication is if you need to fold the tower - and even if you don't I'd put some quick release connectors in to allow this. look for some neutrik Speakon connectors - they work great and can be almost totally covered in black heat shrink tube to keep it all looking tidy Very Happy

meh, too much work. think I'll just mount it on the dash like othes have done and accept that every so often it'll lose it's signal.
tower looks clean now and I don't want to mess it up.
would be nice if they would think of these things from the factory, like how to make it easier to run wires through it...
thanks for the reply Smile

After you have the holes drilled you can suck a monofilimant fishing line through the tower using a shop vac. Then use the fishing line to pull a heavier string or small wire through and then the final wires. I have drilled a couple towers it's not that hard. Make sure you have all of the hardware and wiring before you start so you can plan properly and only have to drill once.

Sandm - Lots of work thats unnecessary. I suggest mounting by intake vent infront of windshield. Super easy - it takes no more than 10 min and will work well. Hope it helps
