A lot of those store are grey market bate and switch type stores. Look at some reviews of the website before you buy.

Looks like a sweet camcorder.

Ed,

I've purchased from this place online and have been totally satisfied with them. They usually have very competetive prices as well.

That model is $999 there though.... Confused

ed, the only sites to buy camera gear from are b&h photo, adorama and amazon. i'd be paranoid with the rest.

also, if there's ever a question as to a company's reliability, go to resellerratings.com.

Why?

That is kind of a generic & derisory statement. Buydig is from there, so are many other affiliates of Amazon. I don't get the point here. Got anything to back that up or any interesting stories?

Erik, settle down dude. i don't think he meant what he said. it's just that ripoff retailers seem to come from new york, brooklyn in particular.

Erik, when t comes to the photo/ video sector, there seems to be a lot of extremely shady dealers. Wakebrad, is dead on, especially when the price is $200 cheaper than B&H or Adorama... Unfortunately, camera stuff does not have very decent margins, so it is rare for someone to knock 20% off their price when their margin is most likely less than that.

My uncle works at onecall.com/ Huppins and has been selling audio/video/camera stuff for well over 20 years and he says the margins they make on a new lens, or a new body is almost nothing.

I talked to HB photo and they talked me out of this camera. They told me that the format was harder to work with. They said I should take a look at the HV20.
