My dad had a 2001 bayliner 175, probably the same hull. Same 135 horsepower.

So in 2006 during my freshman year of college I bought an 86 ski nautique 2001 cause the bayliner wasnt cutting it.

And your gonna get that same reaction from everyone about I/Os just never comparing and that your dad probably shoulda spent his 10k on an older ski boat.

That being said, when I was riding behind my dads bayliner I put a 580lb fat sack right in the middle of the isle and had the rear of it resting against the engine box then running forward between the seats then trim it up a little bit. That was the best set up for me. Also I had a big air pylon on there which helped, but like I said you can only get so much out of those boats esp with the 135. Maybe putting 3 50+lb sand bags in the front would help some

It will be rideable , get a 18p 4 blade , and throw about 600lbs of bags and 4 or so friends and it is decent . I little hard to hold speed , but doable for the most part . A tower or pylon will help a little and also give you more speaker and board rack options . Best advise is ride what behind what you can . Riding behind a jon boat beats not riding at all !!!

Thats pretty much the boat we have , just an 06 model so it is the XT series , not the fighter jet series Laughing ... We purchased it due to the fact that we got out the door for 13k , and 2 weeks after our purchase , the retail price went up 2k . I know i could have took the same money and got a used comp boat , but the gas mileage is great on this boat and i dont have to worry about it needing repairs anytime soon . We have had ours since jan 06 and the past two summers have been spent half wakeboarding and half just cruisin and takin kids out to play on the round rubber things that sometimes get pulled behind boats . Like i said above , set up right , it is deff rideable . Hell , if you think the wake is to small to advance on then go buy a skate and get good on it ! Either way , just go out and ride and have fun !! G / L
