I'm gonna upgrade the stereo in my 07 24SSV Gravity Games in a month or so. The Kenwood speakers and amps they put in these things absolutely suck!
I've been installing for about 15 years and still do it aside from my day job, so that part's covered. I'm also a Stinger dealer so the accesories are covered.
The boat has 10 stock speakers, plus a 10" woofer. I plan to replace the speakers and amps, then add 6 10's, if that's possible. 3 of them would be where the stock 10" is, and the other 3 under the helm station. I was gonna use this:
(1) JL Audio 300/2 for the tower speakers
(1) JL Audio 300/4 (2-channels at 2 ohm playing the cockpit speakers, and 2-channels playing the bow speakers
(2) JL Audio 500/1's (1 for 3 10's)
Also gonna put 2 Stinger SP1500D batteries in the OEM trays
I already have 1 500/1 and 3 10W0-8's, just have to pick up the rest of it.
I thought of picking up the Wet Sounds Pre-amp that they just put out that has separate tower and cockpit controls with the mic. It's kind of pricey but may be worth the money to be able to turn the cockpit speakers down without having to get up, go to the other side of the boat and take forever to adjust the fader.
My first thought on speakers would be between MB Quart (Premium or Reference), or JL XR series.
How does this sound to you guys? What other speakers are out there that would be as good or better and not too expensive? The boat came with the Roswell speaker and lightbar package and I really wanna keep that there, so the speakers would be 6.5" and if they're components, the tweeter has to mount coaxially. The cans don't have the tweeter pods on the sides of them like the 08 boats do.
Thanks for any advice.... |
