Ok so one more semester and I'll have a college degree. For some reason I am not motivated to do a single thing. All the assignments seem like a waste of my time. If only the teachers would pass me based strictly on test scores. Any ideas on how to get motivated to write some essays??? |

Man, this is my Sr year in high school and I know how you feel... I have no motivation whatsoever to do any work... It really sucks... You really just have to force yourself to start... then it shouldn't be that hard to keep it going... |

Yes but you can get away with doing nothing senior year in high school, in college im guessing its a different story. I guess the only motivation i would use is to think about how it's your last semester, those are some of the last school essays you will every write unless of course you decide to go back to school in the future |

This site definately adds to the lack of motivation for school work. Also, websites, like these, that have math answers (with the work), or cliffnotes, make actually doing the homework so much harder. I have another half year of school before 'senioritis' should start for me. Junioritis is already taking it's toll on my grades though.

See, that's why I actually try to do my work... I went through my cheating days and I just got screwed... I need to actually do the work... well, in calculus at least... everything else is easy... |

Yeah, most classes are pretty easy, and I agree that I NEED to do the work in Calc, but it's just so easy to just go to that website and copy the stuff down. I wish I had never found that site because it now controls me. |

Haha, I wouldn't let myself look at that site... I never used to do work in Calc and then come test time I'd try and rely on my cheating skills... didnt work tho! So now I've had to teach myself the whole year so far... |

NorCal~ unless they as ask for a specific topic write your essays based upon wakeboarding.
It'something you know about. All they want to see is that you're capable of writing intelligently and coherently.
You can always take a topic and manipulate the subject matter to your advantage.
Had to write an exit essay to graduate. Wrote only 5 pages max in a blue book in about and hr. Everyone else had pages written and were still writing like crazy when I stood up and walked out.
I passed the exit exam and that'a all that matters!
Just stick to a topic you're familar with. |

Phantom- thanks for the suggestion but I'm a little beyond open topic essays. The teachers want very specific course related essays. I've got a 15 page, heavily cited, on the arguments between the federalist and anti federalist. The other essay is a 10 page on the threat of presidential powers in times of crisis. I'm just bored with it all I guess. College is fun but the classes are no longer interesting. I mean after a while you already know what is coming it's just in a different form or subject. |

Well here's another shot for motivation:
If you don't get your arse in gear. YA AIN'T GONNA GRADUATE! WHICH MEANS YOU"LL STILL BE IN THE PREDICAMENT NEXT SEMESTER!.
How's that for motivation? |

I had no motivation at all during my last semester. I'd put everything off until a day or two before, but it all worked out. It's like I just went through the motions, didn't really think, and I ended up okay. A couple of my buddies experienced the same thing. Just do that. |

Boy, oh boy.
Let's think here a minute. If you have no motivation now, what are you going to do when you have a 40+ hour regular job - for 40+ years?
Suck it up! Accept that you have to do it and just get it done. |

Leggester- See that's the thing I'd rather be working now. I think I've done enough in college and I'm ready to get working. I really enjoy being productive in a work enviroment. Plus there is money involved which means I'll be working to pay off some loans, make the boat payment, truck payment, and rent. I think suckmywake hit it on the head. At this point you've learned the system that college teaches and you are just going through the motions. No matter how good your schooling is there is nothing better than work experience. I have jobs lined up I just need to finish. |

The difference is that you get paid. That definately motivates me. |

Yea, I'd much rather be working than in school.... It's not like you have to write 15 page essays (depending on what you're doing). I wish I could drop out of school and get a decent job and work my way up the ranks... I hate school... |

Very true wes. I was not saying that I plan on dropping out of school. I'm gonna work my ass off to get a good education so I have a better chance of doing something that will make me happy later in life. It's just frustrating having to work so hard now when life's so short. |

Last year my enlglish teacher told us a story about some guy he knew whose wealthy dad passed away. The dad's will said the son would have his schooling paid for, but after that he was on his own. The dude figured he'd just stay in school for as long as he could, or until his funding ran out... how great would that be? |
