First off if you can't do 180's then you aren't ready for inverts. Learn the basics and go from there.

I think you do need to focus on the basics before you jump into inverts. Everyone wants to get inverted just as soon as they start riding. I would recommend that you get an instructional DVD. There are a bunch of good DVDs out there. Higher Education, Detention, The Book series and Waketrix. All of these dvd instructionals start you out and progress the way you really need to in your riding.

I think it is pretty important to get a grab (or 180) before you go to the inverts.

To do any invert, you will need to have the w2w on lock and have your mind free to think about something else. The easiest way to do this is to practice a simple grab or a 180. In their self they are not difficult, but being able to edge in and then do something other than just get ready to land is important.

HS-FS-W2W-180 is a very important trick to get down. It, more than any other simple trick, will remind you that your switch riding sucks and that you need to spend more time on that before you go to inverts.

my 2c....

ya see like i can thro a few grads out there like indys and methods and the good ol' roast beef grab and they are all w2w and i feel that im not so concentrated on clearing the wake as much as i try to hold my grab and stuff... like i feel really comfortable. But as far as like FS 180 W2W goes everytime i land i either am leaned to far back or i will land and just catch and edge cuz i dont land switch as well. i have attempted like a raley b4 and the results were quite funny but its all in a good time ya know
