Yeah, clue us in on this whole graduated license thing... Around me you either have a license or you don't, no middle ground. At 15 we can drive with another licensed driver and at 16 we are able to go it alone... Twisted Evil

Graduated license is something like this:

from 16- 16.5 they can only drive during the day and only with family members.

Then, from 16.5-17 they can drive non-family and at 17 they have a normal license.

I'm sure I don't have that completely right but it never applied to me so I don't care.

Your just about there Nick. First you have to have your permit for a full year(all 12 months). Then when you turn 16 you are aloud to go get your license, if you had your permit for 12 months. I didn't so i had to wait 3 months til I got my license. Well then, you have your license for 6 months. And during this time you can drive from 5:00am to 9:00pm. With anyone, it doesn't have to be family. But now there going to pass a law in NorthCarolina that only lets you have one other passanger besides your self. In less they had there license for 5 years. Then when those first 6 months of have your license are up you are aloud to drive when ever the hell you want too! only 3 more months and i can drive after 9!!!

lol i missed the graduated lisences by a year. but at least u don't have to put letters in ur back window. in BC, u ahve to put an "N" for the first couple years. and an "L" if u only have ur learners. i'm only on probation for a year or two.

that does suck, here in Florida, we have to have our learners permit for a full year, then we can get our license, when we get our license, we dont need to have anyone with us, we can drive alone. And we cant drive past a certain time, unless your going to/from work/school...its not to bad, we dont have to be with a person who has there license and is over 21, thats why we have our permit for a year

wakegurl i think you misconstrued otto when your 16-16.5 you can drive with only family but you can drive by your self also. the system here (washington) works like this

15.5-16:learners permit (required for 6 months)
16-16.5: intermediate liscense; can drive BY SELF but passengers are restricted to family member, can only drive durring the day.
16.5 and up: no restrictions

ya i know Nephilman, its different here, when your 16, with your license, you can drive with anyone, you can have friends, family anyone in the passanger seat...thats why you have your permit for a year, and thats when you do it all with a family member, or someone over 21 with there license

Confused Boo Hoo, Cry me a river...

In Australia- at least in my state- you can get your learners at 16, which means a big L on your window and you have to drive with someone who is fully licenced. Then you get your P plates at 18, which means you can drive pretty much normally, except no alcohol and a few little restrictions. Then you get your full licence at 21.

So quit your bitching! Very Happy

the graduated license program in NC is:

1) at 15 u get ur permit and u keep it for a year
2)at 16 u get ur limited provisional license and u cannot drive from the hours of 9 pm to 5 or 6 am, i cant remember which one, and just started this year u cannot have more than one passenger w/ u
3)after u've had ur limited provisional license for 6 months, u get ur full provisional license which means u can drive whenever and with whoever u please

sucks for me cuz i shoulda had my "after nines" as we call em in jan. but i was too lazy to take drivers ed when i should have...

Cletus Martin, only 2 ppl for us in NC now and thats countin the driver...lucky u cuz our laws suck ass

Josh R, damn our program dont seem too bad now lol...but i guess when everyone else who lives there has to go thru it to its not that bad rite?

yeh that sounds a bit homo but we got a similar deal in my state of AUS, only better than joshs.

16.5 you get your L's for six months (you can drive only with a drive who has had their P's or opens for a year, none of that not after dark bs, you can drive any time of day)

17 you get your P's (you can drive whenever, with whoever, at anytime)

you dont have to display your L or P plate at any time, but u can choose to.

nick

I'm glad I didn't have any of that when I was younger. I was in CO then, where you just get a permit at 15.5 and a full license at 16. There were some cities that had curfew laws for people under 18, but they didn't really enforce them if you were driving through because most of the time neighboring cities didn't have curfew laws.

I worked in Lakewood, which had no curfew laws but I lived in Golden, where if you were under 18 you weren't supposed to be out late. They really meant walking around, hanging at parks, etc... Also, many times I would drive through Wheat Ridge, which also had a curfew.
