I have two Clarion 4 channel 400 watt amps, and 4 clarion coax speakers and a 12 inch subwoofer inside the boat. I smoked my tower speakers and was going to go from two to four speakers up top. My question is this, can I power the four up top to each of the four channels of one amp and also bridge the sub off of the two rear channels or should I buy an amp exclusively for the sub? If I add a third amplifier, can I split the pos, neg, and remote from one of the amps for power, or do I need to go back to the battery and add a relay for the remote wire? Suggestions.

Thanks

I would use one 4 channel amp for the 4 speakers and the other amp just for the sub. So 2 amps...

I would bridge the four speakers in your boat to the rear side of one amp, and the four tower speakers to the front side of the same amp. Now you can fade between your boat and your tower. This will put a 2ohm load on all four channels, but with just 6 1/2" speakers you should be fine. Now you can use the other amp for your sub, but with a four channel amp and only one sub you can only really use one side of the amp. Add more bass Twisted Evil !

Two speakers on each channel of one of your four channel amps. If you run each pair parallel it will give a 2 ohm load on each of your four channels. Then you can bridge the other amp for your sub. If you know what you are doing with one 12 inch sub you will be able to get some pretty intense bass. The main problem I usually see is people alway think the more speakers you have the better. This is not always the case. Finding a place to put a sub that resonates well and having an enclosure that is built correctly will usually make more of a difference with your bass response. Make sure you have a good crossover point for your midrange and tweets this is also very important. If the crossover point is correct you will be able to push your speakers more without damage.

Dees that sounds like may be a ground problem. I would change the ground on your deck first then check your amps ground. If that doesnt fix it could be the RCA cables coming out of your deck are touching metal. This could also come from the remote turn on for you amps. Usually they run it from the remote on your deck. Yours may be ran off of the key that may be causing a quick power spike to your amps and causing the pop. If it is connected to your decks remote try the ignition.
There is some ideas for ya dees
