So since I've been talking out my ass every time I sell someone a slalom ski, I decided it was time to get on one myself and see if I could get some firsthand experience to give customers rather than just reciting catalogue blurbs to them. In the past 7 or so years, I have slalom skied 3 times, and today was my first time on a competition ski (D3 X5 pro) and I made all six balls at 32 mph, 15' off, on the second pass through the course. I was pretty impressed with the fact that I even made six balls, much less on the second pass.

Where did you ride it?

Though I give people (goodnatured) crap when they talk about waterskiing, I would be curious to try my hand at a slalom ski, just to see if I could ride it. Cool

I haven't slalomed in about 3 years Laughing

I wouldn't mind trying a decent ski for fun, I could rip on my p.o.s from Canadian Tire Laughing

HHI Dave, on the chain of lakes that cypress gardens is on. I went down there with my family today, watched the ski show, ate at a restaurant that's mostly built on a dock, and just cruised and enjoyed the good weather. Fortunately Performance gives employees free demos, so I snagged an intermediate level ski to make sure I could still get up, and a competition ski to see if I could get my carve on. I couldn't get the intermediate ski to turn for sh*t, so I got on the D3 and just loved it. I really had a blast, I'd like to get up to 36 mph (comp. speed) But wakeboarding is still my first love by a long shot. I'll never turn completely to the dark side, just dabble a little bit.

K-dub, I guess people occasionally ask for a "pull" when they want to demo a boat, do you ever demo for people who want a "tube"?

ontrider, if they wanted to tube, i'd say I forgot the waivers at the shop.

sorrrrrry!

It felt really cool being able to drive the boat like an A-Hole today. Skier falls, throttle up and whip that biatch around. Yeah, baby!

LakeIolaLuke, sounds like a cool day.

This thread has kind of reignited my desire to try slalom skiing again (don't tell my friends Smile ). I waterskied a lot when I was a kid but haven't been on waterskis in at least a couple of decades.

And yeah, wakeboarding is my passion too. Not much chance of me ever trading my board for a ski. Laughing

I too enjoy skiing from time to time. It's just a bit more relaxing sometimes.

slalom skiing is def. not more relaxing...especially if you're doing a course like Luke did. I mean i guess it could be kind of relaxing if you just stood there but that'd be so boring

Slalom skiing wipes you out. If you're good enough to ski a slalom course, your forearms are burning like a mutha after about 4 passes. I can wakeboard for half an hour and not even get winded, 10 minutes of skiing and it's nap time.
