| K heres the deal...I'm transfering to a public school next year more than likly unless I go to Bradley Univerisity in IL. Anyways if I go to a public school my tuition + room and board will drop from 20k to about 6k so I'm thinking of asking the parents to let me get a truck with all that money im saving so that when I get out of college I will be able to get a boat and tow it. Anyways I really like the '03 Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT 4.0L V6. Would it be an alright vehicle to tow with? I dont know much about the whole tow vehicle thing so I dont have an idea. Any help would be great, thanks! |

Jaysus!
If you're getting a college education, at least quit using the word 'Anyways'
You're a College boy now, try looking that word up in the dictionary!
It's one thing for High Schoolers, but for Pete's sake, at least try to live up to your education. DOESN'T ANYONE TAKE ENGLISH ANYMORE? |

He, he. No, my only pet peeve is the work 'anyways'.
Nothing like sounding like an uneducated mid-west farmer. |

I am not sure who's money you are saving. If you are saving your own money, why don't you actually save it, or invest it in something better then a new truck. Like a house. There is no worse investment then an automobile, except a boat. If you are "saving" your parents money, they will not be saving anything by buying you a truck now will they? If you insist on a truck, I would recommend a 2-3 year old truck used with V8 to start with. My limited experience is that explorer does not tow so hot. _________________ Check out https://www.facebook.com/darcizzleoffshore |

I wrote that post after doing about 10 hours of homework excuse the anyway's....and sorry jason im not a redneck...althought we have some rather interesting ones at my school. They feel that they can just chew their tabacco anywhere they want and spit it anywhere they want. It is quite possibly the most disgusting thing i've seen.
Leg I took english I got an A in it. I didn't know I had to use proper grammar to post on an internet forum. |

If you are going to be making payments go with new over used. I sell used vehicles so i know what im talking about on this one. The interest rate at the banks are going to be around 6 to 10 percent. A new vehicle can be bought for no interest so your payments will be about the same for the same amount of time (might as well go new).
If you are going to pay cash then get a used vehicle and save the depreciation from driving it off of the showroom floor.
Now for a towing vehicle man get a v8. I have a z71 suburban and it rocks but for a single guy the tahoe is great at towing and looks good too. |

| Yea, I was looking at Tahoes, but I dont think the parents will gone with the whole thing of me having a new car that costs more than theirs. I'll probably have to go with a used vehicle. |

Well Chuckee, if you got an A in English, you should know that proper grammer is acceptable all the time. Think of it this way, you don't have to make an extra sound, nor add keystrokes.
As to tow vehicles, always an 8 banger over a 6 banger. But since you're in WI and IL, you can probably get away with a 6. How about instead of hitting you folks up, you get a PT job and get one yourself? Let the folks save for retirement. A 10 year old Suburban will run around $10K.
BTW, it's Legge. |

I already got a part-time job within the school and I have an internship this summer. So I'm one step ahead of you. That's why I am looking for a vehicle pretty much. My parents wont pay for the whole vehicle but they will help. Thanks for the info though. |

Are you looking for JUST a tow vehicle, or a people mover also?
'Burbans are good for people and towing, but a used Avalanche looks like a pretty good deal too.
I would think there are a ton of listings in your area, I'd find a few, get insurance quotes, and then talk with your folks.
You get a break on insurance with PU trucks and the Avalanche is considered one, rahter than an SUV. |

Maybe I will just wait till the '04 Nissan Titan comes out in late '03. It looks pretty nice. 5.6L V8 with up to 9400lbs in towing capacity. Gives me the summer to save up even more cash. Anyone have an idea on how much they will cost?
Here is a picture of it as well... |
