|
|
My beloved 03 Substance is dying a slow and painful death. Never hit a slider, just old age taking a toll. Started as a chip the size of my fingernail at the beginning of summer and as of yesterday it peeled down to the core. Ive tried Duct tape and stickers but they both rip right off. Is there any way to slow the damage? I just need it to last till 08. I was thinking about fiberglass patching it (like a surfboard). Would that work? Its not lookin good...any other ideas?

epoxy resin but it looks like you let the damage get out of control

Epoxy resin with a sheet of glass MIGHT hold it, if it break off any loose pieces and sand it down pretty smooth
I'd put 1 sheet of fiberglass over the entire thing, epoxy it, then let it set, Wet sand it down, and put another coat of epoxy then let it set....should hold til 08

| epoxy resin alone will deffinitly cover that up and if done correctly a sheet will last forever, but don't epoxy unless you know how. if you cant get ahold of that try car body patch anything that will seep into the cracks and harden and is water proof will do the job

Everyone is right about the epoxy resin. Just use Sun Cure, But what I'd do first is take a dremel or something and cut away any area that is dmaged at all, and cut into the foam core and everything to get a good surface for the resin to stick to. When you apply the resin, make sure you push it down into all the nooks and crannies, and then fill the entire spot with the sun cure. Then take sand paper to it until it's smooth. It'll last just as long as the rest of the wakeboard.

| Yea its pretty much dead, but if you must fix it use epoxy resin. That is what I used on mine and it worked great, but your board is a lot...LOT...worse than mine was.

Thanks for the advice. Im going to see if I have any of my fiberglass patch kit left from my surfboard and go that route if I do. Otherwise, Ill buy some more or get sun cure. If neither works..well Ill ride it till it wont ride anymore!
flyhigh andmichigan boarder, I know its seen better days, but I dont like dropping 600-800 bucks willy nilly (Bindings are ripped too, gonna get both while Im at it). I can get 25% off 07 and 08, so might as well wait till the 08 stuff rolls around.

where are you getting 25% off? And I might sell you some of my stuff. But a 137 ps3 and 10-11 watsons may be a bit small for you haha..
That looks like it would be really tough to fix though, but I'd say you sure got your money's worth.

| Blindside_137, definetely got my moneys worth! haha. I got "connections" for my 25% off. And yea your stuff is too small. Im gonna demo the PS3 though, not too fond of stiff bindings though. Probably end up with Vantages or shanes or something like that.
