I have a 2001 Supra with a fuel injected 350 indmar. My question is about the fuel injectors. I went to go out on sunday and the battery was totally dead so I jump started my boat. I idled out and went to cruse to our spot. After a few minutes the engine just cut out. It did not stall but the RPMS dropped to an idle for a second. I heard that a battery without enough charge can cause this b/c there is not enough power for the fuel injectors to work properly. Does anyone have experience with this? _________________ "The pen is mightier than the sword cause the pen gives the word sending swords to war."
That is false information. Unless your battery is seriously screwed up your alternator makes more than enough power. Your alternator is probably rated at around 100 amps, so in order for your injectors to be affected, the battery would have to be taking all 100 amps. Also, the voltage guage would drop. A totally dead battery will draw maybe 25 amps at most. My friend's boat runs on only 9 amps. If you battery will start your boat it is definitely not a problem. If you had to get a jump it probably still isn't becuase if the battery was sucking all the power from your alternator it would have sucked it all from the jumping vehicles too and you wouldn't have been able to start your boat (I've seen this before).
