Laughing Laughing Laughing

So w/ my left shoulder all jacked upo, I am spending more time behind the boat on a skate and less on the board.

I've got some decent sliding skeelz, but I want to get to the point where I can do a backside slide on the heelside wake and a 180 slide on the TS wake.

I also keep trying to do bigger 1W jumps, but even though I land on the board, I always seem to land heavy and eat it. Tips on landing softer?

Stop laughing muck!

No - we were too hung over. We meant to, we really did! We just ended up watching movies, playing w/ Brian's kid and then napping on the cool leather couches. Went out Sunday w/ a couple of the waitresses.

That's your solution to EVERYTHING! Mr. Green

Maybe you guys can explain this to me, how is wakeskating easier on your shoulder than wakeboarding? You're still getting tugged by the boat.

Jester, I can only do tantrums and backrolls on a board, and tantrums will just destroy your L shoulder if you are regular footed. I just have to remember to drop the handle ASAP when crashing on a skate to avoid the hurt. I still tweak it about once a run on a skate but nothing like boarding.

Mutiny from when Schmaltz came to Waketoberfest. He gave it to Brian and I've adopted it.

K-dub, yup - the way Brian tells the story, you boys had never seen tits before that night!

muckmeister, I knew you'd be jealous! I'll get a pic for you eventually. It's a sweet ass board w/ a foam top, which I prefer. It's hardly been used w/ Brian being boatless for the last 2 summers. No trade!

Oh, I'm well aware of who was scared sh*tless of the boobs and who was right at home. Never seen a grown man afraid to give a stripper a dollar before. Especially a dollar someone else gave you!

That board will never be traded anywhere. Trust me, we are WELL aware of it's value!

So now that I am a full blown wanna be badass, I'm wondering about skate weight. I know this one is pretty light and I am seeing guys like some weight to their skates - why? what is the difference?

I am still casing and bouncing on every w2w attempt! Doing better on surface 360s though. Not quite 360 worth of better, but getting there!

I like more weight on my skate because it just feels more solid when riding. I had an integrity for 2 years before I switched to a wood LF. This was more for the flats though, ollies, shove-its, etc. Although I did feel more solid on the w2ws I did this season. The problem is the wake is so wide at 20mph that unless I'm riding behind a narrow beam boat I can't really go wake to wake.

Are you just working on wake and surface tricks or are you also working on ollies and flip tricks?

I'm barely hanging on for the most part.

I haven't really figured out how to ollie in the slightest. I don't think any flip tricks will ever be a part of my trick bag, although I could see a shove it someday.

My best trick right now is putting my front foot parrallel to the length of the board about 1/3 board and taking my back foot off. I get big cheers from the boat when Ido that. Mr. Green

When doing shuvs and flip tricks, some people like a more controllable swing/flip, weight gives more control. I dont like a deck that will fly in some funny direction every time I do a shuv. Reed Hansen's Ronix deck is like 13, or 14lbs!

IMO, having a 13 lb. board will keep the skate under your feet a little easier, but you are sacrificing A LOT of manueverability for it. If you learn to control a smaller lighter skate, it's a lot easier to learn harder tricks instead of trying to fling around a 14 lb. chunker.

It's personal preference I guess, but I'm saying you don't need a heavy skate to have control.

jt09, as long as it's not a one footed lipslide while mimicking the call of the ancient pterodactyl then I think it's safe to call it as your own (the one footed lipslide with pterodactyl was a signature trick of G.V.W.).

So how do you get up ? Just like a wake board? or do you have to hold the board with one hand and have the rope with the other?

Just put the board under your feet and when the boat goes into gear, the rope will tighten up, thus pulling you forward putting pressure on the board against your feet. Then it's just like a wb. Run on sentences FTW! Colorful
