Whats the best way to approach these? Riding at 22.5 at 70 feet is hard to get the nerve up. Should I shorten the rope and slow down an try a few and bail first?
Ps. I can do Oa 3's 5's and 7's on the tramp without a problem

--cresko--, yea you might want to shorten and slow when learning. I cant do these but I have tried them...and from experience, slow down. Laughing (I only tried 2...got nice and off axis, got the handle...thought I was about to land it...then BAM! 270 back edge catch. Owwieee)

I am just trying these now. I am getting off axis, but not to the extent I want to. Any tips on getting further and further off axis? I started trying them by going a bit off axis, and then slowly more and more, but seemed to have stopped going more.

Haven't had any bad spills yet, but then again haven't gone completely off axis.

make sure you get your hips over the rope while you spin. i like to think pop, drop, and roll.

in more detail- pop=get lift off the wake first.
drop=your back shoulder to let your board rise and tilt off axis
roll=your hips up,over and around the handle.

pretend there is an imaginary line that points down the rope, thru the handle and beyond (away from the boat). you must get your hips up and the handle down in order to roll yourself over and around the handle. This can be felt best on the tramp. hope it helps.

p.s. pop/drop/roll is also effective for t/s o/a spins.

Cool thanks. I'll give it a try tomorrow. I haven't really been focusing on dropping the shoulder as much as trying to throw my legs up and around. And it would make sense since the board is getting behind me, just not up very high.

And yeah, I am in desperate need of finding someone who owns a trampoline. Practising any trick on a tramp before the water would be so much more help.

Remember to take a slow progressive aproach to stay in controll and focus on getting pop. Keep the handle in close to your hips (very important, If you hold the rope is chest high you will get pulled off balenced and face plant every time). At the peak of your jump start the 360. Do the handle pass while looking over your lead shoulder. Then STOMP your landing and ride away. Remember the handle should never leave your hips.

I tried some more OA3s this week...kinda got em. I throw them pretty good off axis right off the wake by scooping off the wake like a backroll and throwing my front arm out and up but then I level them off half way through, so I dunno if its a really legit OA 3 but they are a SCARY feeling trick. I dont like it, so I doubt Ill make this trick a regular in my bag. And the falls suck...I either miss the handle and land it perfect, cursing at it while I watch it fly away, or I overrotate to 450/ almost 540 and SWACK my front edge. (Seems like this would be an easier way to do HS 5s...they whip right around unintentionally but Im not comfortable enough with this kind of spinning to test it)
