just got a boat, step dads offered to pay for wakeboard + lessons ect.

so i was just wondering about the gear as in clothes / protection that you have to wear.

from the pictures that i've seen it looks like you wear ust a pair of boardshorts/swim shorts, a rash vest and some upper body arm i think its called.

anyone care to hook me to up some sites with some gear on and help me out?

i'm not sure on the price or anything so just pick a fair average price.

thanks in advance.

All you need is a rope, lifevest and board/bindings.

ahh thanks

i think i'm gonna go for just a pair of nice boardshorts, rashvest and a life vest as said before hand.

just wonder, is an "impact jacket" the same thing as a life vest?

It's the same. Usually just a fun name to call it so that the new boarders think it's something special. Just make sure you get a nice, comfortable neoprene jacket. USCG approved or not is up to you.

You don't have to get board shorts if you dont' want to. There's a chick on here who's husband rides in a tu-tu. You don't need a rash guard either. Guys just wear those when it's cold out, but it really doesn't help that much.

Make sure you get a NO STRETCH rope and a decent handle. Very important.

ahaa, my step dad was just like "you MUST have an impact jacket" and i was like aha lame name.

whats did you mean by USCG approved?

seeming as i live in england, i think i'll get a rash guard. and i may aswell get some board shorts seeming as i don't happen to have any nice pairs of them lol.

how much are ropes and handles on average?

United States Coast Guard.... it is a designation that means it was tested by the US. Your local standard would suffice...

Generally it just means that your vest will float and stay on if you crash. Which are probably good qualities to have in a life vest.

They are also designed to have a minimum bouyancy figure. No idea what it is, but compare a USCG vest to a non. Night and day usually as far as floating my lazy as*.

non-stretch ropes go from $50-$150ish
and handles are about the same price.
I really suggest getting a non-stretch rope.

ahhhrun,

If you're boarding in the uk, i'd invest in a decent wetsuit.

It gets pretty cold when you are out of the water, even in summer.

gets bloody freezing both in and out of the water in april time.
