Ive been trying ts backrolls recently and i can get the rotation right every time but i keep starting to go to revert, so i catch my front edge and die.
Im not sure if this has to do with letting my backhand go at the start but when should i let go of it, seems more natural to let go at the start

Having the same problem, go to revert everytime. Called a guy today that's been coaching me a little and he told me to make sure and look away from the boat. Gonna go try some more tomorrow.

So i can't help you with this trick but I do want to ask a question. Do you guys edge kind of away from the boat when you hit the wake when you throw it? Cuz I haven't tried that yet but I kno that i'm not getting the rotation I want...I hold my hands as close to my hips as possible but I seem to get stuck half way around and land upside down. Am I not loading the line right...i can do heelside backrolls consistenly, but this trick i'm kinda lost on cuz i don't kno anyone who can do them to help me out

wow looks like i do this completly different, i come in with a strong progressive edge and at the last second cut towards the boat that gets me squared up for the rotation, then i throw my hips forward and sholders back which initates the rotation, this is very easy every time to rotate but the only thing that is keeping me from landing this is the time i let my back hand go, when should i let it go?

On a few instructional DVD's they let go about halfway through the rotation. When grabbing the trick however, guys will let go right off the wake.
Michigan Boarder, if you're not getting around try 2 things: Pull really hard up the wake and wait just a second before throwing it and make sure you straighten up at the wake to get the pop you need. I was struggling with getting around at first. Practiced popping off the wake toe-side and started throwing the trick later and am getting around no problem now. Unfortunately I'm getting around to revert though.

Maybe try spotting your landing either behind you towards the shoreline. Last summer I had the same problems with them until I started looking to the shore for the landing.

Go for it like you would a heelside roll. I've done it where I kind of huck back but its alot smoother looking when you stay on your edge. That's my opinion atleast.

maybe i do it wrong, but I throw it one- handed. I had a big time mental block on these until recently, because of a nasty bell-ringer i had trying one last summer. I threw it with both hands on, and went just enough to revert to catch an edge. This summer, I stuck the first one I threw, and I let go with my back hand at the trough of the wake. It is very easy for me to grab it indy too.

i dont know how the hell yall are throwing them like heelbackrolls, everytime i try them i let go with my back hand and throw my head back real hard, it almost seems like im using the wake to throw it

i get all the way around usually, but im so disoriented i have no idea where i am at in the air and i can never spot it till its to late.

OuachitaWaker, you shouldnt need to throw your head so hard. True, you do need to throw your head and shoulders back to initiate the rotation, but the rest of it comes by tuckin your body up, then untuck to stop the rotation and land it.

i used to be able to do this but i had a couple bad crashes because i'd go really low and spin real fast. so there were some bad faceplants. i've started trying to relearn it but i still can't get much air. i probably just need to wait longer to start the rotation but i dunno.

waiting for pop is definitely key...i still have yet to land one but when you wait for the pop you'll notice a huge difference in this trick

I come pretty hard at it, and I learned it by hucking it pretty hard. I let go at the start of the wake. This year I have figured out to wait until the top pf the wake to throw it, and it really boots me. Alot less effort required. I think of it like doing a ganor. The hardest part to me is making myself rotate slow so I dont skip off the board and land on my butt. There is deffinetly a strong tug when comming around, you have to be sure and pull the rope down to your lead hip at the last 3/4 of the trick. hope that helps

Here is a small video of one of mine, I tired to slow it down.. My technique isnt perfect by any means, but maybe it will help someone out. I didnt quite wait till the very top on this one, but still got a pretty good boot.
