Do you guys put regular car audio equipment in your boat, or do you go for the marine specific eqipement?. I'm lookin' at putting a Bazooka 10"
powered sub in, and the price difference between the regular and the marine is $70 ($349 / $279). It's gonna be up and out of the way, so I really don't see the need in buying the marine speaker. I'm also gonna replace the 8 satellites, and it looks like those do need to be marine specific speakers. They're out in the open and prone to gettin' splashed. Glasses

So long as you are not in salt water you really only need good poly (plastic) coned speakers, which most good speakers are. They can get soaked and still work fine. The marine units really are just to keep the terminals and wires within the speaker from corrosion that salt water causes. If your boat can dry out in a reasonable time you will be fine. As for amplifiers and audio components put them where they can't get wet and they will be fine.

I have a buddy who is an audiophile - he recommends putting in car stereo equip over the Marine stuff - convinced you'll always get better quailty sound. Now with that said - if you have a budget, you have to make a choice, and if you are not too concerned with being able to tell the difference in sound quality.... than go with the Marine.

I have a regular Bazooka 10 inch under my bow. It is dry under there so I didn't see why I needed the marine version. It is an RS10a (A few years old). This is year two on the boat - no problems.
