I've got a snowboarding background, then went to wakeboarding, but i don't have a boat yet...maybe not next season but the one after.

I want to take up some form of skateboarding to stay sharp with my board balance skills and maybe ride a little better switch.

Should i go with a traditional short board, a long board, or one of these freeboard things.
The free board is more like my snowboarding style, but how easy/stable are they coming down from an ollie or doing some other tricks. Do they want to stay upright or do they pitch and carve too easy to land a trick/gap.

I'm sure i'll end up with a shortboard just cause its easiest and cheapest, just looking for opinions.
