Not sure exactly when it happened, but I've ridden 4 of the last 7 days and took a few pretty hard spills. I would have thought that my vest might have prevented something like this.

| Wow I almost think you had to have hit something for a bruise that big. Could be some falls ripping your vest into your body or something though, hard to say. |

| i use a neo comp vest and it dosen't go down all the way to the waist so if it was uncoverd then it won't protect. i've gotten bruises from spills just hiting the water.. never that big but i could see if you hit it the same way a few times the same way it could get like that. but, LFPIMP thats not a scar so he probably wouldn't... ... |

What do you expect? You're the size of a tank. Do you think a tank makes a little splash? That's a lot of mass hitting the water at once, you're lucky you didn't just explode on impact. |

Yeah, I've seen worse myself. Spent 13 years in law enforcement.

Actually, I think we solved the mystery. I pulled an ab muscle pretty badly in the area directly above the bruised area. (Yeah, there's a little bit of muscle under that layer of padding ) The general consensus is that the blood from the broken vessels is just settling to the area directly below the injury. Kind of like lividity.
Well, it didn't stop me from riding yesterday and its not going to stop me from riding today. We're going out in an hour.
EDIT: As of today...

| I tore my oblique muscle wakeboarding last summer and the bruising actually went from my stomach down my thigh. I'd be careful riding after that. I could barely walk it hurt so bad. Couldn't ride for like 3-4 weeks. |

Epic, I'm thinking that I did something along those lines.
Of course, I just came out of the water a little while ago.
I know, I know, I'm foolish and reckless etc. |

HHI Dave, damn ... I keep checking these threads hoping that that gets better ... and not worse. Hope that it starts turning around for you soon.
If you're not in too much pain .. why not hit the water? |

If you put a wrap around it (ace bandage) with some of those block letters that you put on the fridge, it will leave the message you put in there for a few weeks. Don't ask. _________________ http://kmags.mybrute.com/

i've seen this sort of thing before........
it appears that you may have an infection from wearing the same shorts everyday.
remove, wash, wear, repeat. |

Funny.
Fact is, I have several pairs of the same shorts in various colors (the ones in the first pic are khaki, OD green in the second pic). Jeans are pretty much out from around March until November here. |
