That's sort of bragging since you started a topic about it. But.. 1

I replied but it dissapeared Sad *edit - I replied in the wrong thread, doh!* It took me 3 times, I just bought The Book so I will be trying their techniques for getting up, I do it a lot different than they say to do it Laughing It is kind of hard when you weigh 235 lbs and don't know how to do anything Smile

I didn't count. The first board I tried on was too small for me and the bindings were med and I needed xl. I got fed up with it and started reading anything I could. Bought a new board with the right size bindings and a tad bigger. Talked my dad through a smooth acceleration for the pull up and I was riding after one try. Like HHI Dave said though.....I fell shortly there after Very Happy

snooks, I was exactly the same. Started lurking these forums for answers to my questions, without looking like an ass.

Well over 10. Probably closer to 20. Had to teach myself, mostly using the awesome advice on this site. I'd say that, after getting some good info here, it only took about 2-3 tries and then it was like, "WTF?! Why did I make that so hard?!"

Second try. The first try yanked the handle out of my hands. My younger brother got up his first try. We had been water skiing and snowboarding for years, but we had never even seen a wakeboard ridden before. These were in the days of sandal bindings though. I still think sandal bindings super easy to get up on.

I got up my first try, and probably rode about 10 times. then I had a traumatizing experience which ended with a wakeboard punching a hole in my lower lip, so i didn't touch a wakeboard for a few years. when i did try to get up again, it took me about 3 tries.

The first time I ever wakeboarded i got up on my first try with no instructions, then at least a year later when i took up wakeboarding it took me probably close to 20 tries with instructions. I obviously have a problem with authority and directions Wink

Took me about 4 times, but it was behind a 45hp fishing boat --- not the greatest holeshot.

Good question. Can't really remember at this point since it was close to 15+ years ago. lol... Does getting up on the surfboard behind the boat count? Pretty sure that was first try hehe By the time we got a real wakeboard (or skurfer back then) it was old hat getting up...

Same for me, but I am a bigger guy.. Small guys have it easier. Very Happy

I had never used a waterski or kneeboard before though.. Once I had it, I had it though.

spyd4r, This is true, that smaller guys have an easier time, I probably only weigh 75 pounds when I first started, and my board was a 135 back then, so I had no problem getting up and staying up. My first trick was a surface 180
