Yes. sort of. I took my first lesson yesterday. Had just graduated from the trainer when the wind died and my lesson had to be cut short. Usually the winds are pretty good here in the fall but we've got unusually warm calm weather right now. Can't wait to continue with my lessons and then start kitesnowboarding when the river freezes. Kiteboarding will have to wait until the spring.
Can anyone recommend an instructional DVD for a noob?
Thanks |

jason_ssr, I landed in Maui, looked out the window at the airport once I got off the plane and noticed a ton of kites in the air.
Kitebeach is right there.
It was amazing to see sooooo many kites in the air at one time. It was like an addiction I had to run from.
Until I can be in a place where it is embraced, I better leave it alone until I can find the junk to cure the crave!
It was a beautiful site to behold.
My boy down in FLA is planing a nice trip to the DR or PR. You might want to contact him if you are interested. _________________ www.integrity-wake.com |

jason_ssr, Easy.
Along the entire Chicago lake front Montrose is the beach allowing kiting and you must have a cert and the life guards can tell you to leave at their discretion. It get's too crowded you are gone.
So, please tell me how a city bordered by a great lake with numerous beaches will only allow kiting at one of them?
The other beaches are Waukegan about 1 hr north of the city no traffic. And then lake Kosh on the south side of the city which is actually in IN I do believe.
I wish I had my home laptop, I have a great pic of the city of chicago embracing kiting.
This city is very anti anything to do with water and the lake. It is pathetic. There is not one place I know of to even rent a wave runner if you wanted. _________________ www.integrity-wake.com |

there's a great crew of guys who run the kite scene in chicago...

Just so you know...
Though the "official" beaches usually require a certification now, or have other restrictions, there are many other places to go in the area. |
