I am looking into getting a tower for my boat. It's a 2003 Sea-Ray 182 SRX....I know its not much but it gets the job done. I was looking at the Wake Design Rat Cage. Has anybody had this tower before? Pro's/Con's?
Also the guy at the dealer said i would have to reinforce the hull with some aluminum pipe.....is this true? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Adam

I suggest spending alot less money and get the skylon, thats what we did with my old I/O. Unless you don't plan on someday getting a ski boat someday.

I ment the Tri-pod by Skylon, It's alot less money then a tower, but it does get in the way, But if you want to keep an I/O for a long time get a tower.

Also check out http://www.monstertower.com. I've got one on my '95 Maristar and love it. Can't beat it for $1000.

TxnRipper,

I think from your first comment they must have meant reinforcing with aluminum backing plates and not pipe, I don't see how that would help without some huge heroic work. Sea Ray's are stout boats and normally dont need reinforcing.

Have'nt heard of Top's & Towers but as long as they have happy customers it should work out great. Post some final pics.

Bill

H-town I use to build Sea Rays in phoenix... The only prob you may want to watch for is that they put the curve in the feet of the towers to match the boat curve (deck) Make good with your 1 year warranty before its up, SeaRay is really good about Warranty. It doesnt matter what it is they will take care of it. unlike the hassles Ive seen with other manufacturers. Also know that Sea Ray will not warranty any problems accured by the tower, you pretty much loose your deck warranty.
