Seems I can only jump W2W when the water is pretty calm. I'm getting my progressive edge and timing down, but as soon as the water chops up a bit I lose it.
How do you alter your technique in choppy water? Do I just have to practice absorbing the chop with my knees? Any advice appreciated. |

I have never ridden on butter so I always keep my knees a little loose so my legs absorb everything. It also helps a lot to see whats coming so you can anticipate how much you'll need to absorb, so look at the water ahead of you.
When I'm cutting into the wake I don't really change anything at all, but I've had a few cuts where I have to stop if I get off balance. That can be annoying, but I find that if you're trying to absorb the water when you're cutting you end up having a hard time holding your edge and get a weak cut out of it. |

You poor deprived soul.
There is nothing that compares with riding when that water lays down flat and you can see your reflection as you skim along without so much as a bump. |

Knees a little bit looser and a little more pressure on the back leg for added tracking. Take more aggressive cuts and if you're riding through some rollers, if possible, try and land on the downsides of the waves or land more tail heavy.
The hardest things to do in chop are trips for things like tantrums. You'll hit the shallow part of the wake and huck a flip through a few inches of air. Landings ain't pretty. _________________

I've only ever ridden in a small part of the Tampa Bay and on a lake that was full of boats by the time I got out
I'd love to know what it feels like to just go out and ride without having to worry about the conditions, maybe some day... |
