|
|
This is my 1997 Malibu Response LX. I put one 650 pound fat sack in the back and i am going to get 8, 45 pound weights to distribute in it. It throws a great wake but want it bigger. So tell me what you think of my Boat.

Where'd you get that tower from and how much did it cost you?? You should throw 4 chrome speakers up there. Louder is better!

| Wedge sucks...........3 fat sacs is the best way to go, if you want a bit more lip to it add a bit to the front.

parks138 I have been rideing on a 96 response
for 2 years we fond with the wedge down and
2 phatt budde side sacks about 150 to 200lbs in the nose and about 6 people
in the boat was a pretty big wake very steep
but i like a good steep wake.
with use just weight you are going to be looking
at a much more flat wake still big and nice shape.
I would guess it depends what your looking for.

Wow, submitted 4 times... very good!!
Really nice boat!! Trick it out with speakers and lights, lose the aqua blue, throw a wedge on it and you'll have an extremely awesome boat!!

| Parks138, yea, I remember seeing you put that boat in at concord, well across the street from concord, I just bought a 2003 nautique 206, so whenever you visit we'll hook-up and ride.

If you don't have perfect pass on that boat, definetely get that before the wedge. Some people don't like the wedge b/c one, it breaks infrequently, two, it makes your boat drive like a pig (not that fat sacs don't), and three, some say it adds a wacky lip on top of the wake. I do not think it is automatically included on the new wakesetters. I could be wrong. I don't own a malibu, but ride on them frequently, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I have a 98 RLX, it has the SV23 Diamond hull, I think yours has the normal SV23 which is slightly better for a boarding wake. I have experimented alot with the wake over the last season. I do have the wedge but it broke a couple of months ago and I have fixed it since.
straight ballast I run
3 x 550lbs bags besides and behind motor box & 225lbs of lead under the bow seat
it throws off a big clean wake with long transitions and a bit of a lip on top of the wake. Filling all these bags is a PITA though.
with the wedge I run
1 x 550lbs bag behind motor box & 225lbs of lead under bow seat.
this set up is not as tall but it is steeper and has a great lip that throws you up there just as high.
It comes down to personal preference, what you want the wake to be. The wedge is easy to use but it uses alot of fuel. The ballast still lets the boat hanle like a boat and not a tractor but takes time to set up and robs you of interior room. Not much strorage on pre 98 Responses. If you go with the wedge it wont hurt resale at all.
Good luck with it
Brad

That tower looks great on your Malibu.....Toss on a few speaker and lights and you'll be set...........
