Hello lady rippers!
So, it was my girlfriends birthday yesterday and I told her I want to get her a new board. She has been progressing really well lately (solid carving and one-wake heelside and toe-side jumps). She does this on the Hyperlite Juvi 131 we got for the kids!!
A shop near my house has a demo program where you can ride 8 different boards and the cost is credited to whichever one you buy. Today we picked up a Ronix Krush 134 and a Liquid Force Jett 132 which she will try tomorrow.

Here is a list of the other boards she has availble to demo:
Hyperlite - Eden, Syn, Blur, Divine
Liquid Force - Jett, Diva, maybe the Melissa
CWB - Saphire, Bella
Ronix - Coy, Krush, Trinity

So, I've read good things here about the Jett, and she wanted to try an Asym so we got the Krush. What else off that list should she ride before she picks out her new board?

Thanks,
ed.

Make sure to firmly establish that she shouldn't expect this every birthday.

Never solicit advise or listen to underaged males.......especially from ontrider, when it's about the ladies Laughing Laughing he's still a virgin. Twisted Evil

I'd say let her pick out whatever she likes and go from there. Never try to use reason or logic with a female when there are colors and graphic designs involved. Laughing

I bought my daughter the new LF JETT. My other daughter rides the Cadence from last year. My oldest daughter LOVES the Jett. Lands really nice, great pop and has a super loose feeling with the fins off.

I ride the diva and have ridden a blur; and the atla from time to time.

All the boards u listed are solid ones and it really comes down to her personal preference; riding style. Have her give them a spin and see where she lands.

Thanks ladies, and wierd guys that are hanging out in the womens section. Shocked Laughing

Today she rode the Jett 132 and the Krush 134. She liked the Jett alot, the Krush carved too hard for her liking and bit the water too much on edge. Next week we will demo a couple more and then she can make up her mind.

Cheers,
ed.

I have the Jett and love it as well. The Melissa is also a great board. If I had to choose any other board i would go for that one. I rode the Krush and thought the same...

Have her try the Melissa... I believe she will have a hard time trying to decide between the Jett and that one!

criswb, thanks cris. I read your writeup on the Jett which also helped me make the decision that it was time to get her a board made for her! So far, that is the one she likes, but we're still going to look at a few more including the Melissa.

edrex, its great she has someone to help her! and that she can demo a lot! There are no shops around here so I just try and ride everyone's board to get to know what makes a board ride different and what kind of things suit my style.

The Melissa is faster than the Jett. I didnt get to ride it that much but I liked what I... rode? lol

criswb, what exactly does it mean to have a "faster" board? Would faster boards reduce shoulder and arm fatigue because they slide on the water better, or am I misunderstanding it?
Thanks.Cool

What I feel the most difference is when edging. A faster board doesnt need for you to really edge for you to go faster, so it may be easier to get w2w (with speed, not necessarily pop) but I prefer slower boards cause they give me the time I need to really prepare for my jumps.

A problem with slow boards is that some slow you down on landings, so it makes them harder. I have had no problems with that with the JEtt, because it still is a fast enough board, plus it has the spine that goes all through it that softens landings.

I am not sure, but I dont think it has any effect on shoulder and arm fatigue... that could be taken care of by stretching before and after riding and also some weights wouldnt hurt!

Ok, just got back.
So, as far as Asym's go... she liked the Eden way better then the Krush. It was alot smoother for her on the water for carving. The Krush bit really hard on each side and didn't have a good feel to her for riding. On the Eden she had a good feel for the carves and was getting some good jumps in too.
The Syn made her feel like she was working harder to do the same stuff she does on the other boards. She gave it a few runs and still didn't like it.
So as it stands right now its between the Eden and the Jett. If the shop gets a Melissa 134 by the time we are ready to go out again she'll probably give that a try. If not, we may just take out the Eden and Jett and test them head to head.

Today was the final day of demos and she took the Jett and Eden head-to-head.
And the winner is:

She really liked both boards, but in the end the way the Eden handeled made her more confident in trying new things and that will help give her an edge as she progresses in wakeboarding.
Thanks to all who gave thier input here and in other threads that I read as I researched boards for her. If we can find someone with a decent camera to come out with us one of these days I'll get some pics up of her riding it.

Cheers,
ed.

I know its too late, but I just got the new Ronix Coy & absolutely LOVE IT! it edges really well, the design is great - even the boy has been riding it (with changing the bindings of course lol). Anyone else looking into getting a board, definitely demo the Coy.
