|
|
Ok my first time out everything went fine. My second ride out the tranny was slipping as soon as I tried to put it in Forward. I took the boat out and sure enough my tranny oil looked like a milkshake. We assumed water was getting into the tranny oil. I took it to the shop and we decided since the bilge hadn't ever filled with water that the tranny cooler probably ruptured and let water into the transmission oil. They replaced the tranny cooler and the tranny oil. I went out again and it ran fine. The next time I went out, I had the same slipping and milkshake problem.
The motor is a PCM351 in a Supra Sunsport '88. I can't think of how the water is getting in the tranny and I could use some insight. Thanks! |

It might take more than 1 flush to get all the water out. Keep changing the fluid, it should be getting better. _________________

If there's no water in the bilge, then you need to flush your tranny two or three times in order to get all of the water out. I had the same problem on an 02 xstar. Bad part about my motor was once you got water in the tranny you had to put a new seal in it or it would leak fluid. That required pulling the motor and tranny apart .
Make sure yours isn't leaking. |

| What exactly is th eprocedure for flushing it? Do I remove it, fill it, run it with a fake a lake for a bit, put it in and out of gear a few times, then repeat? |

Like Rhawn said be careful but, you can put it in gear out of the water just make sure you have someone else hold another hose and spray water on the prop shaft and bushing to make sure it doesn't overheat.
procedure would be what you listed. |

No need to run it out of water or remove. Just change it after going out on the lake. Get a hand pump, and be careful not to drop the end of the hose loose into the trans. _________________
