|
|
I'm probably going to be putting four 6" 2-way 4ohm speakers that will get around 60-70wrms each on my tower. I'm trying to decide which way would be the better way for wiring them:
1) Using a 4-channel amp that is around 4x60wrms @ 4 ohm and wire each speaker into it's own channel.
OR
2) Using a 2-channel amp and wiring each pair of speakers in parallel and wiring each pair into a channel on an amp that does about 2x120wrms @ 2ohm.
- Which configuration would put less strain on the electrical system?
- Would either one be safer for the speakers?
- Or would each method give basically the same results all around?
- Will I be able to hear 4 speakers easily while riding with the stated power?
Thanks! |

as long as you have a amp that will handle a 2 ohm load go with your second choice. There is no reason to have the speakers on seperate channels why would you want to fade in between four of the same speakers in a row. On a tower the main point is to get them as loud and as clear as possible. By doing the second choice you will achieve that much more efficiently. _________________ Fire it up!!!!

Spyplane8, i totally agree...i was going to mention that if ur amp could stay stable down to 2 ohms then parallel them like u said in ur second choice. _________________ N.e.R. |

Cool, thanks for all the opinions. Any other suggestions would be great... I'm looking at an amp right now that is 2x160wrms @ 2ohms. _________________ A successful person is a dreamer who someone believed in |

bluapunkt has a sweet amp (4 channel) that is a classs T amp. less heat, still lots of power. you cold even run 2 ch. at 2 ohms, and still have 2 more channels to use, without even bridging the amp. my next purchase fo sure!!
