I've ridden the PS3 and loved it... the speed, the pop, the soft landings, the loose feel...I loved it all.
I've never ridden the Shane though.
How do they compare?
Thoughts?

That shanes a bit tighter, due to more fins and a harder rail. It takes a little getting used to the really wide tip/tail on edge, but it pops like freaking crazy. _________________

I rode the PS3 all of last season and have been riding the Shane (140) this year (probably been out 15 times). Biggest difference I've noticed is the Shane is definately tighter (rode the PS3 finless), it's not as fast (although it's definately not slow) and does have more pop. I liked everything about the PS3 and only changed because I wanted to try something different. I love both boards. I still can't decide which I like better. PS3 still has great pop and they also land very similarly.
Shane basically is a little slower, tighter and has a tad bit more pop. |

Epic, Thanks for the info. Doesn't really make my decision any easier, but it doesn't really sound like an easy decision anyway.
I guess the only real answer is that I need to ride them both and decide for myself. |

Trust me, it's not easy looking at my PS3 when I go out to ride the Shane. It's just a little different ride, it's worth trying for sure. You may love it but for an all around board, I don't think you can beat the PS3. It does EVERYTHING well. To be honest, if the Shane didn't look so kickass this year I probably never would have switched. |

From what I have read, the Shane, Watson & PS3 are all very similar. Pick which everones graphics you like better. _________________ Niiiiiiiiice |

My 2 cents. I've been riding a Fish 133 for 2 seasons. Coming from an Era, I thought it was the greatest board ever. THEN, my friend let me try his Shane 136. It was a revelation! Man, I felt so at home. Everything I did was so much more consisten, predictible... Wow, I went out and bought one the next day!
Bottom line. Try before you buy! |

I currently own a PS3 and my friend just got a Shane. So we went out one day and rode both boards. In my opinion, I loved the way that the PS3 gripped. You could get a solid edge on the Shane but the PS3 would hook like no other. The PS3 is a pretty consistent pop and decent kick. I hit the Shane one time perfectly and just flat out got launched strait up. The Shane seemed to pop harder than the PS3. Both boards were pretty soft on landings. The Shane takes a little more edge awareness to grip after a spin or flip than the PS3. It’s hard to choose what board I like to ride more. My friend and I actually take one set with our own and one set with the other person’s board. Than we get to ride both of them. Hope that gives you a little help. _________________ Always looking for a pull in Florida... |

WakeboarderX30, (and everyone else who put their .02 worth in) thanks for the info. I think I'm going to stick with the PS3. Just need to make the mortgage payment first. |

Good move, you probably wouldn't like the Shane more. Like someone else said, if you like the graphics more it might be worth a try because they are pretty similar but I still don't think you can beat the PS3 for an all around board that does EVERYTHING well. |

i've had both. i personally liked the shane a little more. to let you know where i'm coming from, i rode a subjekt for a couple years before those boards came out. i liked those two boards a lot better than the watson so i would say you're on the right track if you're going with an LF. _________________ "...but even if you don't make it, it will only hurt for a minute." |
