is this an easy trick to throw. Im always riding on the water getting so close to throwing it because it seems like it wouldnt be all too difficult. _________________ well, i did have over 800 posts.. formerly natman |

Seems like this wouldn't matter as much with this trick. Other than already being able to do a toeside raley, there's really no building block for this trick other than a solid toeside jump. I know a lot of people learn this before the toeside raley but unlike a lot of other tricks, i.e., 180 first, then 360, then 540, there's really not much of a progression for a batwing. |

| I was asking, because if he can barely clear toeside w2w then he isn't necessarily ready. But if he can load the line (scarecrow, ts frontroll, ts backroll) then yeah I'd say he could give it a legitimate try. |

its the same edge as a scarecrow just dont drop your chest and minus the whole flip. basically just start doing w2w indy grabs and each time edge a little harder eventually you will edge hard enough and it will naturally put you into the batwing position, from here just pull yourself down. _________________ Random Acts Of Dumbness Will Always Be Rewarded. |

Bro you barely need to cut at the wake on batwings, i like to cruse out bout 15 feet start a nice and slow progressive edge at the wake with the line loading down your back arm. As you ride through the trough and up the wake give your cut a little more juice as you would for a good ts backroll. If you follow these steps the board will easily get behind you with control and tension to bring it down. Off the wake reach for the grab let it out, try to keep your arm bent and don't let it get yanked out for control. Pull into your hip and land it.
Seriously its not to difficult, a good ts jump and a few toeside inverts and you should have little to worries hardest part is generally the mental block. The falls are on these are pretty tame and not as bad as anticipated.
You can take the option of letting it drift out on you this is generally alot slower and you sometimes end up with a poked batwing i.e. an indy with a poke rather than an indy grab gliding out the back.
Hope it helps you out and go stomp it bro. _________________ EAST COAST RIDERS

EAST_COAST_RIDER pretty much has it, you don't need a really wide cut. you just need to really crank up the edge right as the trough of the wake begins. I just started landing them this week, so mine are still sloppy (i keep missing the grab or grabbing tindy) but the edging and getting the board back under you isn't that difficult. you just have to keep your front arm bent, so you don't get snatched too far out the back and can't pull it under, and don't let your hips fly out the back wildly, you want it to be smooth and controlled. this is one of those tricks where you can kinda half-ass it along until you really get comfortable with it, then start taking it further out the back. _________________

LakeIolaLuke, Sick stuff bro don't be embarassed of tindy on this trick I've seen some super steezy looking batwings that are grabbed tindy and tweaked hard. But i guess if your a "Legitimate" rider tindys aren't good. When your comfortable stalefish batwings rock as well give aq batwing a diffrent flair. _________________ EAST COAST RIDERS

this trick will require some work put into your edge. it doesn't have to be for a long distance, but if you want to do a true batwing and not a grab with a float, then you gotta edge and resist. hold on with 2 hands until you're off the water then keep the rope in a controllable distance, and everything should come together. also edge out t/s on the landings and you will be claiming it in no time. _________________ Mark Kenney, 1983-2002
