went and picked up the response 142 and driver boots, havnt shredded on em yet but i plan on it today. first thoughts were that theres a few really small pieces on the base plate that the boots swivel on that i think could pop off easily... boots are extremely comfortable and locked in. the gel like heel pads really keep your heel locked to the bottom. being able to adjust where u want your feet EASILY on the fly is awesome cause now i can test out how ducked out the most comfortable position is at owc today. the board flexes a good bit at each tip and flexes just a little less throughout the whole board. the flex also moves heel to toe not just front and back like my old covenant did. I'm pretty curious to how its gonna be but i will write it all up as soon as im done. definately pictures and possibly video

I'll be anxious to read the review. I have a Recoil 138 on order. There was no dealer in my area so that I could demo one first. The feedback thus far seems very good so I'm hoping that its as good as its hyped to be.

The recoil is the SHIAT!!!!

The response is super fun to butter but I had a hard time wake to wake with it.

The recoil got me off of my beloved absolute shape after 5 years.

I can't stop riding my absolute either. Just something about it...plus it's pretty much indestructible.

Craig-R and David-D were telling me that the slingshot they were riding was awesome...I might have to check one out.

kmag is right, the slingshot recoil IS awesome, by far the softest landings of any board out there. my only complaint would be that the board and some of the pieces are fragile. david landed on the handle (not carbon fiber) and the handle cracked the board. also, one of the fins already fell off and sunk into the water...even with this crap happening, its still the best board ive ever ridden and would recommend it to everyone, especially you keith, it's easy on the ol' joints

I would recommend the Recoil to anybody. I do have to get the board warranteed though because of the fin problem and a slight crack due to trying a Backside 9 off the wake.

Are you calling me old? I mean, I don't officially turn 30 for another 3 WEEKS! :sigh: Maybe that's why my b*lls hang down to my knees.

you lnow what...the slingshot is pointless. i think the point of the board was o create a board that can be loose and flexy while still pop off the wake but what they got was a board that doesn't do either well at all. also the bindings suck, theyre like snowboard bindings and id like to see you get snowboard bindings off in the water while on ur back. i demo'd this board last week and i was exteemely dissapointed.

LOL. How ignorant can you be? The bindings are easy to get off, they do take a while to loosen the straps, but still, do you need to get them off in 5 seconds? And as for the pop, it works fine for me... maybe it's just user error on your part. Learn to pop better noob. Wink

I rode the continuous rocker slingshot board and I've been holding back my "review" for a while cause its semi-negative. Oh well here's what I thought.

I was at a demo day out in Washington, hung out with the slingshot rep and was super stoked to ride their boards. I rode right after my friend just killed it on the same board. My first hit my board digs right into the wake and I bail. I am like what the heck? So I take it easy for a couple more hits but it continues to happen every so often. Although the wake was steep I don't think it would have been a problem on any other board. After I finally got that problem fixed I didn't really notice boosting any bigger from the board. I also thought it was too loose for me. That being said I ride a 3DS with huge fins that track like a mofo. I remember taking a couple hard landings.

Really what it was though is I don't think the board fit my style. I was trying to charge it and it was obvious that I couldn't ride the slingshot the same as I can my 3DS. Maybe I just wasn't used to it yet. I don't know. Again, my friend that rode before me killed it and he’s very technical and wake to wake I think the Slingshot worked perfect for him and he also came from riding a 3DS.

As for the boots, I thought they were very comfortable and I was stoked on them when I was riding them. Now I am scared of them. My buddy Rob rode after me and took kind a weird fall. If you've rode slingshot's boots you know that your feed will not come out of them. Robs foot came about halfway out and he broke his foot and completely tore 2 ligaments in his foot. He out for 8 to 12 months.

Really I think Slingshot has some great things going to for them. I've met and talked with the rep, owner, and CEO of Slingshot. They are all rad guys that are passionate about wakeboarding and I really think they are taking a huge step in the right direction. I don't mean to bash their products or anything I just wanted to give my honest opinion of they're stuff.

well its 3 Shocked , im bored and heres the review: Response 142 w/ Driver boots

Twisted Evil The board was very light along with the boots. very little swing weight at each end. I was skeptical at first because i pressed it out alot on my carpet and it flexed in interesting ways and quite far a few times. the tips and side rails are super thin and it gets a little thicker through where the boots go and middle of the board. you notice a difference in how much each section bends to the press.

Twisted Evil Board: Very fast as long as u can dig a deep edge (there are only 2 fins on each end and a FLAT bottom, no lines, v's, cups, or anything. My first wake jump booted me straight up and i was not expectin it at all, and then i did a toe off5 with more weight on my back foot( board responds better) and i went straight up and had plenty of time to rotate slow and land soft in the flats. I was stoked on the fact that the board landed soooooooo soft in the flats and was really easy to keep on edge. I feel it takes away the initial slap your regular board would do if you land a little back heavy. I was raley cutting my heel 5's and gettin alot more vertical than before landin out in the flats stompin the landings without hurtin my knee and i felt all in all more comfortable. I can understand how somebody wouldnt like it, for instance, my friend desiree says its too loose when she cut because only one of the back fins would be in the water and she doesnt lean into her cuts as hard. She said the flex was weird to figure out but she was gettin some good air for her ability. I think beginning riders might not like because they might not be relaxed and the flex from rockin whichever direction could be awkward but i could be wrong... its not that its harder to ride, its just different. you have to change the way you edge a little but its more than worth it for how well my knee is holding out for the landings i had today... oh and glides+batwings are the sickest and very smooth on these boards. I have to work on how to throw my heel fronts different because they felt alot smaller today than when i was on my covin which suprised me but im sure its just somethin in how im hittin the wake loadin the rear foot.

Laughing Boots: Wanna be locked in? get em, holy hell they are tight. I love tight bindings instead of loose ones because i like to be locked in extremely solid so i can really feel the board out. They have an inside liner (that comes out like a shoe, its tight. also has gel heel pads that lock your heel in) that is tightened inside by an inner lace and then topped off by a top and bottom set of laces on the outside. The sickest part is that you can change how ducked out your stance is on both boots by just pushin a little button/lever in, twisting, then clickin it in to lock it in its new place. Really helped my find how i like them positioned.

If you question it, demo it! i did, it was worth it to me, will it be to u? i dunno but i hope this helped. let me know if you have any specific questions

Craig I don't agree at all. I ride the Watson. Here is my previous eval of the recoil:

Rode the larger setup the other day. The boots are comfy and come up high but I don't lioke the snowboard boot feel, nor do I like closed toe bindings. It seems like you might be in trouble if one boot snaps off the board (it is very possible) and the other doesn't eject (very possible). To many laces. You are damn well locked in. If you do manage to pop out the liners are definately coming with your feet to possibly go floating off somewhere.

The board.... very inconsistant pop. It seems to either absorb some of your pop or send you flying. It feels kinda cool when the pop catches you but seemed hard to control. People say they land soft but it did not feel that much softer to me. I was embarrassing myself with the board knifing through the wake instead of riding up it. I then jumped on my Watson and killed it. Maybe I did not give it enough time but I couldn't get into it at all. Another thing is that it seemed extremely grippy coming from my finless Watson but that could be easily corrected. They are super light and seems like they would be great to spin on but with the inconsistant pop I was getting didn't even try any. With a little practice learning to control this board and it's pop could be fun, but i don't feel like having to think about something else in addittion to all the other things to think about when I am learning a new trick.

yea u have to mess around with different cuts until u figure it out and i am in love with the boots. the liners come out everytime i take my feet out but its cool cuz they are like shoes and pop right back in easily, and they have naked women all over em
