|
|
Since this is a noob question, I'm posting it here. Last year I bought a 2006 LF Team 143, and it was a combo that already had the bindings and all 6 fins installed. I'm ready to remove the fins, but what do I do about the holes in the board? Should I have gotten some kind of "plugs" that fill the holes where the fins are screwed in, or do I just ride with those holes open when I go finless?
Thanks. _________________

you dont need to plug the fins with anything, its not going to make a difference in the way you ride

I was also curious on said topic. But my consern was with part of the core exposed, would it cause anything to get effed up? _________________ 04 LF Trip 133

| i am pretty sure the core would not be exposed but sealed. even when you have the fins in it is not a watertight seal so water could get in no matter what. |

| Yeh, there's no point in you filling the holes up, just ride with them unfilled. |

Thanks everyone. I was more concerned about getting a little extra spray in the face or water penetrating the core than I was about it affecting my riding. Was also making sure there wasn't some bag of parts I didn't get with my board.
I'm not pulling all the fins at once, but I'm gonna start by pulling the center fin on each end. It is a 1.7". I'll leave in the two shorter "cupped" fins on each side for now and see how that does for me. I'm really having a tough time breaking the board loose for surface tricks without an ollie, and I'm also finding it grabbing a bit when trying to land my jumps. I'd like to stop falling when I don't land perfectly, so I'm hoping that pulling that fin gives me what I'm looking for and the smaller ones can stay in.
If someone thinks I'm doing this backwards, and should be pulling the cupped fins instead, please let me know. I'm open to suggestions-even pulling them all. _________________

Pulled the center fins off, but got only 2 sets in due to wind/chop ruining the water for most of the weekend. Those 2 sets without that fin were amazing, though. I'm never putting that thing back on again! _________________

pet575, if you do have problems with the extra spray you can mask off one side of the hole, pour in some candle wax. That should seal up the holes really good. _________________ wakeboards

until the board sits in the hot sun, then the wax runs back out.
I found that silicone works better. |

All over the seats/floor....unless you have a board rack...in which case nevermind.
I think your question is already answered but no you don't need to plug them _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

The only way I've noticed any water spraying up, is when I try to manual, or just starting up. _________________ 04 LF Trip 133
