Cheb75, nice. Good choice on the sliding surface and the video was pretty cool.
One of these days I need to get out to that there river. Went once last summer but it's a haul for me and I don't have many free weekends over the summer. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Hey Brad, you talk to Dan anymore? You'll have to cruise down with us sometime and check out our playground
Anyways....
Hopefully this info and video will help someone else in the future. Also clear up some questions about building a funbox, and what to use, and how long it takes, ect...
I have time lapse on some of the rails we built to. Might post that, might not. I dunno...
..for you guys out there that wanted to know. Now you know... _________________ www.DallasWakeboarding.com |

Rather than reply to the PM's in secret I'd rather answer the questions here so EVERYONE can read and learn.
1. How are the post put in the ground?
We cut the post to a point on the end(like a pencil), and then we used a custom made post pounder that was big enough to fit over the landscape timbers to pound them into the ground.
2. How far are they into the ground?
It varies but most of the post are atleast 2ft in the ground. When we've reached 2 ft deep, they are sometimes still a little loose but when you tie them all together with the 2x4 framing it makes everything more rigid and solid. So they dont need to be super soild in the ground.
3. And the most asked question...WHERE DID YOU BUY THE STUFF YOU PUT ON TOP?
(I knew this was coming, this is why I took pictures of the top)
Its called UHMW Plastic, or also called Ultra High Molecular Weight Plastic.
Its not PVC. UHMW can be bought at most plastics supply places in different thickness. ITS NOT SOLD AT HOME DEPOT OR HARDWARE STORES. The stuff we used is 3/8 inch thick and cost $88 for a 4x8 sheet. Shop around, the price varies. We had the plastic place cut it into 2x8 sheets since they have the equipment and means to at their location. Its cut perfectly straight. I wouldnt recommend trying to cut it yourself. Most places wont charge to cut it for you. So consider having them do it. The 1/4 inch is to thin to counter sink the top screws, so dont use anything thinner than 3/8th.
4. How much did it all cost?
The total cost of this fun box was $306.78...and keep in mind, we did it with 3 people in 2 hrs. No need to waste weeks building a rail or box. And by the way, anything much shorter than this is a waste of time IMO. 32ft goes by fast at 22mph _________________ www.DallasWakeboarding.com |

Cheb75, haha wow, I didn't know it was you Matt. I haven't heard from Dan since last year. I've been so busy this year I've only been out a handful of times and haven't spent much time on the dwb boards.
By the way, you're in the end of the video we made for our *cough*Shudo*cough* project and I posted it on myspace (this is just my section and yours). I couldn't cut the song short

Next time I have an open weekend I'll email you to see if you guys are heading out there and if you have space. It'll probably be sometime in July. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

From what I hear UHMW is the premiere slider surface for wakeboarding. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

UHMW is alittle too slick for me. it actually feels faster than the water imo... _________________ "it is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation" |
