I just started throwin the backroll this year and ive thrown it about 10-15 times and im SOOOO close i just need to hold onto the handle after i throw it.

I take a big cut at it tho and get a nice super high pop but usually i will over-rotate and land in the flats on the tail end of the board with the nose still in the air

If i take a smaller cut will it w2w help me rotate less, or should i just keep my cut at it and delay it even more

what you have 2 do is when ur goin to over rotate u have to let the rope get looser this will help you slow down your rotation and you should only cut out of the wake 10-15 feet out then wating till thje boat natually pulls you back 2 the wake you should be fine well good luck Very Happy

OuachitaWaker, when I was learning backrolls I was doing the same thing. My problem was that I was leaving the wake early so I would rotate really fast but wouldnt get any pop, so I would whip around and land but then slide out the back on my tail. In spite of this, I finally stuck one like this but now that Ive been doing them for a while, Ive figured out that its much easier and they look way better if you wait later than you think you should to throw it. This will give you more pop and youll spin slower so its easier to land. Try that and see if it helps. Good luck.

well im not poping or throwing it early. Im getting alot of pop and getting really high, im just rotating really fast and i cant slow down enough to set the board down. It always slides out from under me. Everytime i try to just go wake to wake i underrotate and land on the nose.

OuachitaWaker, hm. A video would help. I guess if you think that youre getting a lot of pop and throwing it late then just try not throwing it as hard or straightening your legs out earlier/more to slow down your rotation. Thats all I can think of

I was also doing the same thing when I learned the backroll. I was told to let go of the rope with my back hand (if you ride regular, then your right hand) and that did the trick. Letting go of the rope when half way into your rotation should slow things down and help you stick it.

If you're under rotating try cutting a little harder into the wake. If you're over rotating try to cut a little less. That helped me in the beginning to learn them. Than once you get them you can start to control it with the handle. Try to spot your landing early.
