So I was reading this thread the other day and it said this...
Are you goofy? Right handed people tend to be able to spin counterclockwise better than clockwise. That's why Harf's, Rusty's, And parks' 1080s were all switch frontside, because they're all goofy. Since I've never done any BS 3's I can' give you any advice.
I ride goofy, and am right handed, and it feels more natural to go backside, however, I can spin on axis a whole lot better frontside, I usually just land and glide, I just cant make myself grab the handle.
Was hoping for some advice. _________________ www.blackwaterrydas.com |

flyhigh, Ive heard that too, and I can believe it to a degree because its logical that your front arm would be stronger from using it more in riding, so if you went switch, that would be your stronger arm to pull with. However, I think thats true only if you are very good at switch. I know that I can spin easier switch hs frontside but I cant get the pop that I can regular, so I am still a better spinner regular. If you had great switch riding like Rusty and Harf, then I think it makes sense at why they did their 1080s switch.
As for your FS 3 (Im assuming its HS FS?), Ive been doing them for 3 years and I just got them 99 percent consistent about a month or two ago. Some key things are to yank the handle with both hands and make sure you dont let go of the handle with your back hand until you have it in your front hand (when doing the pass). If you focus only on getting the handle, not on your pop or completing the rotation, youll have a better chance at landing it, because thats the most important thing. If you land slightly tail heavy or underrotated, you can sketch out of it and ride away, but if you land perfect without the handle, you fall. No way of avoiding that. One last thing that has helped me recently, is just being more aggresive with the handle. It may just be mental, but now when I do a 3, I squeeze the handle as hard as I can vs. just enough to hold on, especially when I pull the handle for the pass. Works for me. Good luck! |

I ride goofy. Though I have not yet attempted a W2W HS 3, in my mind I picture myself attempting it BS rather than FS. It just "feels" more natural in my head. Not sure why.
LFADAM, thanks for the tips. Sounds like some food for thought. |

It's easier for most people to spin counter clockwise just because they are right handed in life. not just goofy footed. i'm regular and fs spins for me are way easier just because i'm right handed. the extra strenght in that hand/arm makes it easier to pull the handle starting/aiding the rotation. n2m that when your toeside you get the extra little wrap to just yank the hell outta those fs spins. which is why the 1080's are TS FS with the left foot forward. _________________ Smile at the hotties on the boat...Huck ur new trick...Nail it and they'll think ur Wicked..and even if u bail they can soothe u afterwards:D...
