I am started trying backrolls at the end of last summer and want to get them down this year. It seems I'm under rotating or not getting enough height. Any help would be great.

Haven't landed one yet myself, but I think looking at the video you need to really work on your progressive cut for the trick.
Others can chime in with more advice.
I'll let you know when I get it, on my way out the door in 20min! _________________ - "Hurry up and finish your wine so we can go get us some milkshakes " - |

| When you leave the wake let go with your right hand and throw your head back. Attack the wake little more. You need a bit more speed. |

Good Kahuna's to throw er. Need a stronger progressive edge, you let off it pretty hard and that edge helps you start the rotation. Also you have to huck the backroll to some degree. like when i do them i whip my head and upper body to the side to get the rotation. unless your boosting them huge and float like mad your gonna need to try harder on the rotation. and i dunno bout bluebomber, but i'd say don't let go of the handle. just focus on keeping it in good and close to your body. if you let go with a hand your most likely to let it out away from you and it'll slow your spin right down. progressive edge-solid pop-huck sideways for rotation-keep handle and legs in for faster rotation-ride away pumped. _________________ Smile at the hotties on the boat...Huck ur new trick...Nail it and they'll think ur Wicked..and even if u bail they can soothe u afterwards:D...

your throwing it wrong, your turningyour head. Thats not really inverted its more of an offaxis trick then anything else.
Instead of turning your head, tuck your other side of ur head to ur hip, like crunch the side of your body (obliques). It will look alot better and your rotation will be much easier.
your left foot back, so the way your throwing it, your turning your right ear when you throw it. Istead tuck your left ear to your hip. |

im no expert at wakeboarding, but it seems to me as you need to commit more. get some more speed going into the thing and throw your body way harder. you can do it with that much air, you just need to throw your body alot harder. got a dock or tampoline? practice throwing them on those. _________________ sh1t happens when you party naked |

| You need to be on edge about 2 or 3 times harder right at the wake. Other than that, it looks OK. |

| I have landed a few of these but right now I am taking more falls than I am landing. Work on your progressive edge and edge much faster, and commit to the rotation. This is not a hard trick if you do those things. |

| Thanks for the advice. One problem I have is when I get to the wake, and start to stand tall, I lose my edge. Any tips on how to stay on edge when standing tall at the wake? |

This has all been said but I'll re-iterate what I see.
1. Keep holding on with both hands. Just hold the handle close to your lead hip once you're in the air.
2. You need to be cutting harder (more on edge when you approach the wake) like others have said.
3. You are not extending off the wake. You still have to jump like you would a wake to wake.
4. That wake is really rampy. It would be easier if it were a little steeper. Try to weight the back of the boat a little more. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Stand taller
Watch the video in slow motion, or stop motion,
You can see you torso come forward,
you are also casing the wake, you need more progressive edge to land farther in the flats
good luck-you will do it |

You start off with a good edge, but on the first attempt you are actually coming off your edge as you approach the wake. That will work for a tantrum if you have enough speed but not a backroll.
One thing that may also help, is that you will get the rotation automatically if you edge away from the wake. As you approach the wake, you cut your board behind where you would normally cut and that will automatically take you to the BR position and will force you to keep your board on edge.
You have gotten past the hardest part.... by trying them! |
