for "free" if you have the blackberry unlimited plan.
It works for tmobile and cingular on the blackberry pearl and 8800
I dont know if this is well known, but i randomly stumbled upon it and am using it now. works great. people are saying that they are browsing at almost 200kbs, I get low reception at my apt. and its not 200k but its quicker than what i remember dial up was like.

That's awesome. With the way MS is dropping the ball on Vista I am starting to think more and more about getting a Mac and dual booting. Is there a quick switch from one OS to another where I don't have to restart? _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Wakebrad, it doesn't require a Mac to do this. BT built in is a MFG issue, not a MS issue.
It is teh suckage unless you have a 3G device. It will work, but blah (aka I am spoiled).
The program you speak of is called Parallels. _________________

Parallels will allow you to work in Windows inside a window in OSX. So, you can run both Windows and OSX at the same time. Pretty neat-o. _________________ Get Frugally Green!

JamesWatts, I have not heard this 'rumor'.
BUT - It would be a very smart idea that could generate a good deal of revenue for GSM providers. If I was ATT (or insert GSM provider here), I'd be all over Apple to do it. _________________

hmm, I'd have to switch from verizon..
And I don't have a blackberry or bluetooth... so this is really just a pipe dream. I'm just in one of those predicaments where I am ready to buy a new computer but can't find any that I like. I can't fully make the switch to a mac but MS is pissing me off. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Wakebrad, the big problem with Verizon is they won't let you use your phone as a modem unless you pay them for it.
People were doing it... then Verizon got wise to it... and shut them down (and billed them for the data usage!!!!).
Verizon and Sprint have the speediest networks, but ATT and Tmobile allow for the most freedom.
3G is pretty speedy when you get a solid connection. Every bit as fast as EVDO in my experiences. _________________

| I've been using this setup for about 6 months in airports, hotels and whatnot on business trips, and it works SWEET! A hell of a lot better than shelling out $15 for an hour of WiFi. |
