Pope Creek closed at Lake Berryessa

Just got back from a day at Lake Berryessa. Pope creek is closed for the entire Memorial Day weekend by the Bureau of Reclamation. No boats are allowed.

Having seen the results I'm not convinced it was a good idea. Normally on a big holiday weekend Pope Creek is jammed with so many boats one can barely see the water. The advantages; 1) The rest of the lake is wide open. 2) All the partying, littering, Law Enforcement, and Paramedic activity is confined to one place.

What we had today was people going back & forth looking for the party. There were small parties with the usual peripheral stupid boating at several spots on the lake. I liked it better with the most dangerous boating kept to the one area.

Hopefully the Bureau of Reclamation will evaluate the outcome carefully, and make better choices for the future.
