07 Mastercraft X2 Custom Ballast

We are currently looking to add some more wieght in the back of our new X2. I have a set of 400 lb sacs that fit perfectly into the rear two ski lockers, but filling and emptying them is difficult and ay spillage ends up in the locker which is somewhat of an annoyance, especially since we ride in salt water. I was just wondering if anyone has any prior experience plumbing a sac into an existing factory ballast system. Our biggest worry is with the new automatic ballast switches in the 07 mastercrafts. The switches turn themselves off after the tank is empty and im not sure exactly how that works and am somewhat worried about that creating problems if we do this. Any help is greatly appreciated. we just got a 07 x2 and we have a plummed in ballast addition that you are mentioning.

your concern for the filling and emptyting timing are both well thoughout. the boat's ballast pumps have a series of relays that shut the pumps off after a ceratin time. we didn't do a custom install (our dealership did it) so we just had them take care of it.

however, because for somereason, MC doesn't like the fact that you need ballast overkill (i'm not calling 800 lbs in the rear overkill) your dealership might not want to change the relays.

thanks for the help. When we bought the boat one of the first thigns we did was mention additional ballast in the rear and the dealer hit us with a whole slew of reasons not too. The stock ballast is more than enough, the swim platform will drag in the water, etc....Rather than argue we just let it go and figured we would just do it ourselves. In your plumbed in system, is it just one hose connecting the bag to your tank? or did you have to connect the bag in two seperate places. Thanks

jflo452, keep in mind that we didn't do the install on the additional ballast, so for all problems that you may have you will have to problem solve for yourself.

but the ballast tanks in the rear will eventually overflow, and come out the side of the boat. to make the rear ballast work you reroute the overflow tube into your additional ballast bags. now to be better safe than sorry, you would then connect another tube from the "overflow bag" to be the true overflow in the ballast system.

so the way that the bags fill up are

ballast tanks, (when they overflow (go down))
additional ballast. (when they overflow (go down))
pours out the side of the boat.
