Ok, I just got a monster tower installed and I'm throwing out the old ski rope now. I need to buy a new rope and handle and wanna spend about 100 bucks. I have a 17 ft V6 I/O and I think I only had about 50 feet in length behind the eye last summer. It seems like all the new ropes are really long and I don't wanna get something thats the wrong size. What do you guys recommend? I was gonna spend about 100 bucks. I was checking out this one:

I figure with 5 sections I will have plenty of distance to work with till I find the length I want. |

| If I were you I would ride a little further out than 50'. You can go a lot bigger and everything you do will look a lot better. But that rope looks good. As long as you have spectra, youre golden |

Like LFADAM said, as long as you get spectra (or dyneema, it's the same stuff), you're golden. Most people will tell you the length you ride at should depend on where your wake is the best, but again I agree with LFADAM, 50 feet might be a little short. I'd say you're on the right track looking at sectional lines though. _________________ Whoever coined the term "Near Beer" was a very poor judge of distance... |

| What do you think of the "closed cell neoprene" lines like the jacket series from Accurate. |

I've never used them, so I can't say for sure. Accurate is a pretty well-established line company, so I'm sure they're at least decent.
It looks like the closed cell neoprene is to make the line float...I don't think it has anything to do with keeping the line non-stretch. The jacket is spectra, so I imagine (other than floating) it would perform like any other spectra line. _________________ Whoever coined the term "Near Beer" was a very poor judge of distance... |

50 feet sounds pretty damn short.
The majority of spectra setups are probably going to be a minimum of 65' feet w/ the handle included. Most will include another 15" in (3 removable) sections for an 80' total.
I ride a www.bulletlines.com Armor Line coated spectra rope and handle. I ride at 65' behind my I/O which puts me at the peak of the wake and (I gotta brag a little) is currently getting me 2-3 feet into the flats. Still, that's a pretty short rope in comparison.
On the other hand, I was riding out as far as 75' behind the Malibu Wakesetters at The Wakeboard Camp
Regardless, spectra is definitely the way to go. One thing I've learned is that experimentation is the way to advance. You should probably experiment with your rope length.
Good luck. |

Guys, dont forget that the ski eye is about 10 feet further back than the mount point of a tower. So he's actually riding at what we think of as 60 feet. Just food for thought. _________________ Long Island, NY & Canada Lake, NY (addirondacks)

Thanks for pointing that out!
I think I'm gonna go with the rope pooser mentioned. It looks like it goes down to 60 feet w/ handle , now that I have a tower on I shouldn't need any less than that should I?

i would reccomend, a rope which is 75 feet, with detachable lengths to it,so you can remove a couple of feet if you'd like. i have one but its not the best quality rope.. but it does the trick. _________________ Anthony. C |
