|
|
I know the questions keep coming, "What kind of wakeboard should I get?!" but like always, every persons unique right? Well I've been riding a 2003 Liquid Force Trip 138 with 2006 Liquid Force Transits LTD. I love the bindings esspecially after coming from 2003 Ultra Sucs (Too harsh for me). Anyway, long story short, I think I'm ready to buy another board. I love my board, and probably will never part from it, mainly because it was my first wakeboard and it taught me a lot, but I'm ready to get something that helps in my progression as a better rider. Something that will have better pop, still be forgiving, release off the wake quicker, still hold edges as well as the Trip. I want something that is just as light of course, but really I want something that lands smoother. The Trip really would kill me if I landed out in the flats. I also want something that I can ride switch, not something so loose like a snowboard, but something that tracks well, and perhaps its a matter of smaller fins. Larger fins make it nearly impossible for me, for example when I have all the fins on the trip, i can't ride switch, its too difficult to switch in the water. Where as, if I take out the massive center fin, and am left with just the two cupped fins on each side, the board feels great...still loose, but with proper edging you can hit the wake fine with some practice.
P.S. I'm 6'0 160 pounds, give or take...dunno if that helps in determining what size I should ride. My 138 was nice size, but I feel I could ride a 136 and probably be okay, 138 probably being my max.
I'm pretty much focusing on (3) different company's...Liquid Force, Hyperlite, and Ronix...only because I've heard so much talk about how "great their boards are, blah blah blah". Anyway, here are the choices.
1) Liquid Force Ps3 137
2) Liquid Force Watson 138
3) Hyperlite Premier 136
4) Ronix One 137
5) Ronix Covin 138
6) Ronix Frontier 137
Guys these are the only boards I could think of after looking on Wakeside.com. Feel free to give me any other opinions...perhaps I'm asking for a board that noone has even developed...that PERFECT board that does EVERYTHING everyone asks it to, but who knows maybe I'm wrong. I haven't really kept up with the technological advances on wakeboards, I'm sure lots has happened since my Trip was made 4 years back. Thanks in advance!

| you're in orlando. there are boardshops there. demo them, and see which you like best. if you would have used the search function, you would have known that's the best way to find a new board. |

Yeah thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I'm in Atlanta and I don't have access to my boat, or performance ski and surf to demo a board, secondly, I don't think I mentioned, but I'm trying to find a board soon--before the 30th of April mainly because I have 100 dollars in credit through wakeside.com...so why the hell not...save myself 100 bucks and buy a new board. So help guys!

Well I've narrowed it down to either the:
1) Liquid Force Ps3 137
2) Liquid Force Watson 138
3) Hyperlite Premier 136
Help...which one? I've read all the reviews, I still can't decide. |

PS3: Loosest of the 3
softest rails (slippery on edge)
fastest of the 3
mellower turn-in than the others
Watson: Softest landing of the 3
solid pop
somewhat soft rails, but locks on edge pretty well
fast, but not as fast as the PS3
Premier: Tightest of the 3
pop and speed similar to watson
hardest rails (locks on edge really well)
hardest landings of the 3
all 3 are pretty full-profiled boards, so they will all give you a higer ride in the water and good push off the wake. Good Luck! _________________

LakeIolaLuke, what do you mean by "mellower turn in"? What does it mean? Thanks. |

HHI Dave, kinda a feel thing, it just takes a bit longer to build up speed when you roll onto edge.
Jmass03, The Ronix one has a similar rocker pattern to the vault, but has some interesting rails. They are rounded in the belly, toward the tip/tail they get sharp and are cupped, so you have the mellow turn, but locks on edge because of the cupped end rails. It also has some channels on the tip/tail, so it releases cleaner and is a shade faster than the premier.
The vault is an assymetrical shape that give you a tighter and slower/more forgiving toe edge, and a slightly looser, quicker heel edge.
Also, Jmass, performance is having a wake games special, $50 off most pro model boards and bindings, so if you give them a call before sunday and ask about it, you could save $100 right there and get something else from wakeside _________________
