| Well hopefully the title grabbed your attention. I am very pleased to announce the creation of the South Florida Wakeboarding Association (SFWA)and the unveiling of our website, www.sfwake.com The SFWA is grass roots, non-profit organization designed to bring the wake community in South Florida closer together. Our goal is to educate and promote our sport through a series of events held throughout the year (the first one is May 6, 2007 by the way, the website has more details). Membership into the club helps support these events and comes with benefits (discounts at our local boardshop and boat dealership, etc.). We are stoked about the opportunities we think this organization will provide the South Florida Community. So please show your support for others in the wake community and check out the site. Feel free to comment. Enjoy the site and check back often. |

| that is an EXTREMELY spammy title, I'm surprised that I even opened this thread. Maybe you should change that if you truly want to promote this |

Why would someone pay a yearly fee for a newsletter and coupons? And a community site should have forums, for the free exchange of information. _________________ WakeSurf and Wakesurfing News |

I think you missed part of the annual fee, it is to help pay for the events. They aren't free!! The newlsetter, discounts, drawings for free gear, first chance at events at a reduced price these things are all a side benefit. The events are what are going to bring people together. To each his own, we are just trying to do our part to grow the sport in any way possible, if you not down with that and want to hate that is cool, to each his own. Everyone enjoys this sport in their own way. Enjoy it anyway you want and thanks for your feedback.
Have a great season. |

I have to ask, even though I don't live anywhere near you.
Why do the older guys have to pay more for membership? Just wondering.
You might want to include the entry fee's for comps, and what divisions will be available on the website. _________________

No hate dude, just a question and some feedback. Looks like your site is built in Joomla, forums are an easy component to add. Good explanation and good luck. _________________ WakeSurf and Wakesurfing News |

The thinking behind the older guys paying more is that they could probably afford it better then the younger guys, so we wanted to cut younger people a little break. As for entry fees, they aren't list because the first few events are FREE. Just something to get people excited about the sport and interested in coming out. The first event is being covered completely by the organization and sponsors (membership dues as I explained). We want to give back and get people into the sport.
Thanks for all the comments, hopefully some of you will come out and enjoy it and see first hand what it is about. |

I don't really agree about the old guy's having more money thing, but the rest of it doesn't sound bad.
Good luck with the association and the comps. Sounds like fun _________________

I know where your coming from, I am an old guy by wakeboard standards (32) but I guess we were thinking more set in life then the younger crowd.
Anyway, thanks for the comments and appreciate the well wishes. |

knoxwake,
What a great site, you guys are obviously a little farther along in the process. See this is what it is about to me, a grass roots movement through the Country of riders in their communities making a difference and trying to do something to progress and grow the sport. Anything people can do, anything to get people excited and pumped about the sport is what I love to see. Again, great site. |

Ahem......for like when your friends come into town.......ahem........and IF they call you......ahem........or if they don't because they are intimidated by your manliness......... |

well sh*t... I felt / feel really bad... it all came together last minute and I should have called... there were a few external factors that contributed to my forgetfulness.. (beer plus a 12 hour overnight drive). I spent most of the time installing Tol's stereo on his boat.
My bad... next time I'm staying at your place
