Hi folks,

Seen a photo posted on WB.com that was done in Photoshop. It was posted by flyhigh. I sent him a PM, but he did not do the photo. If you search his name, the posting will come up.

The filter effect that was used makes the original photo look like it was 20-30 smaller photos loosely arranged in order (ie had photo paper edges and some of them were a few degrees turned)

Anyone have an idea how this was done.... I experimented with the tiles filter, but could not get it to look right. Is it a filter from an add-on package? What is it called? Is there one available online?

Thanks!

Cool pic. I don't know what filter would be used, but it doesn't look like it'd be too hard to do it on your own.
Grid out the sizes that you want to use, copy them to a new image, change the canvas size to get the white edges, and then copy them to a larger canvas with the dark background. Use move to shift them around a little, and if you overlap just add a drop shadow effect to the one on top.
Heck, send the pic you want done to me and I might be able to find some time and mess with it myself. Looks like a great effect to know how to do.

You can download this as a Photoshop Action, it's called "The Big Picture", can be downloaded here http://www.atncentral.com/download.htm under "Pano's Actions"

Here is my 1st attempt using a photoshop action.

A photo of my 5 year old, styled kinda like the original post.

I was amazed at how many 100s of these actions were available for free online. I just got off on the wrong foot, search for 'filters'.
