I know how to snowboard and now I want to wakeboard-- I tried once but had little guidance and no luck getting up. (this was before snowboarding)
I am thinking of trying to buy a board that my fiance and I can both use-- does this even exist?
I'm a 5'4" 125 lbs
He is 5'9" around 165lbs _________________ melisa |

the perfect size for you is too small for him. His size is too big for you _________________ 04 LF Trip 133

Do you think I'll have any problem learning how since I can snowboard? What size board would I need? _________________ melisa |

I learned to snow board before I learned how to get/stay up on a wakeboard and personally I think that they are two very different feelings (ride wise), the body position you have to be in after you get up may feel awkward at first, but being a snowboarder will help you later on when it comes to maintaining your balance (at least I think it did for me) so I guess the answer to your first question is yes, and no. Yes when getting up and position, no once you are up
As far as board size for you I would say somewhere around 130-135 or maybe high 120's like 127, it also depends on the particular board that you get. and for him somewhere in the high 130's -140's range, but they do make beginner boards that would fit both of you such as this one http://www.wakeworld.com/BoardGuide/getboard8.asp?ProductID=3430 but with a beginner board like this because you are sharing he may end up giving up a little length and riding a board that is sorta short for him or you may end up with a board that is kinda long for you, now he could end up preferring a shorter board or you could end up preferring a longer board, but my guess is you won't know that right now. However it won’t matter that much if you both share a board as long as you go for something in the middle of both your ideal lengths for now. _________________ If you are assuming I’m a guy by my screen name, you would be very surprised if you saw me in a bikini

Also, when looking for his/her's boards, look into Liquid Force, CWB and Ronix. I'd stay away from Hyperlite. There name is a little misleading, its more like Hyperheavy. _________________ 04 LF Trip 133

LFPIMP, Hyperlite is a fine brand, been riding HL for years.
melisa009, wakeG made a great post. In my opinion, if you are dead set on getting a board that fits both you and your fiance, then go with something that is a bit to big for you, and something just about right for him. It will probably be easier to get up and stay up on a bigger board, where as a board that is too small for your fiance will cause some trouble. A large board will not really have any significant adverse effects until you start jumping the wakes and air tricks. |
