| i live in around plano, tx if anybody knows where that is. but anyways, my nearest lake, lavon, is about 15 to 20 minutes to away, but the problem is that last summer the lake water elevation dropped about 14-16 feet. but it went back up 8 feet after the summer. but the thing is that my family wants to put our boat in lake texoma which is about 50 minutes to an hour away. it wouldn't be bad for a weekend trip but we try to go out everyday and after school. i asking whether to stay in lavon and maybe the water level will go down, or go to texoma which is 50 minutes away? |

50 minutes drive is nothing. I drive 75 every other day after work to ski. _________________

If you live on Plano there are lakes surrounding you. Hubbard is just south of Lavon also and water levels stay higher there. Hopefully we'll get some more rain and Lavon will fill back up. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

| MattKelley02GT, we have tried lewisville, but its just so packed and plus, i dont know if this is true or not, they're alot of reckless driving and a person getting runover. Wakebrad, we tried ray roberts, lewisville, hubbard and lavon, but we had a slip at lavon last summer and the deadline for the rent fee for next year is at the end of may. plus the ray roberts marina is like an hour and fifteen minutes away, lake hubbard is the same as texoma, and no offence but we dont like lewisville that much. |

mwhit, that's a tough call. You never know how much it's going to rain. Lewisville gets a bad rep but if you're a safe/attentive driver you'll be ok. It's great on weekdays. Texoma can be an ocean though. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

| Wakebrad, I can't wakeboard anyways until the middle of may because i dislocated my elbow at red river snowboarding, long story, but i think there should be rain this weekend and the next. its just that lavon is so convenient and if we put our boat there and it doesnt rain, im screwed. |

mwhit, Wakebrad is right as rain... Texoma is a nice lake with great places to ride. It is big and can get very rough in the middle and open areas. It is still a great lake. Lavan will more than likely go dry again this year. It is only 80% to conservation pool prior to today and based on the water usage in Plano, Frisco, McKinney, etc the lake will be run low. (They are still in a stage 3 water restriction from last year.) Lewisville is a cool lake. Yes, people have gotten hurt there, but then again, they get hurt on every lake. You just have to aware of what is going on around you and if some "Wally" comes where you are leave and find some other area. I have seen much worse (Saguaro and Canyon Lake in AZ - where there are a ton of boats and narrow canyons). Again, you have to pay attention and take action that keeps you and your boatload of family/friends safe.
Give Lewisville and Texoma a try. _________________ H2Oman
