Check out the forums here: http://www.winchskating.com/

Great site for what you're looking to do. Building one isn't easy by any means, but is definately do-able. Look around that site to get an idea of what is involved with building the winch. Very Happy

TypeRider just sent me a list of some materials. As Sinkoumn said, check out winchskating.com for some examples. Good luck

Motor –

Spool –

Frame –

Rope –
I have a very good deal on rope if you want me to hook you up with the same deal I get let me know and I’ll send you in the right direction. I can get you a 1200-foot roll of plastic coated dyneema core line (possibly glow in the dark) for around $300. If you buy one soon they will still be in stock otherwise it’ll be next spring before they can get more. The place I go with rivals straightline and accurate so I’d never go with anyone else since finding this company.

Man, i was thinking about building one with this old mini-bike i have, but now that i see that i have most of the things i am for sure going to. My uncle has a machine shop so he could probably make anything that i don't already own. JACKPOT!

just an FYI about that little list there... notice that torque converter is for a #40 chain.. and that chain listed is a #35 chain.. If you follow that list part for part your going to be making a return.

*shakes fist at typerider*

Thats basically the same parts list I used on ours. got some pics posted in the winching forum here.
