Hello, we bought this boat last year without a tower and now that i have progressed at wakeboarding i worked on my dad last year to buy me a tower for it. He said he didnt want to drill into the boat so we bought a High Fly pole instead but it didnt work with our boat becuase our Gas tank was right benieth where we needed to drill it down to the deck...so....now that it is winter and summer is coming up again i want to tlak to him about getting me a tower...what are some pros about a tower and can make my dad feel better about putting holes into the boat. Also what would be a great tower for my boat that isnt expensive but yet looks good.

links appreciated

Dad's either going to have to come to terms with drilling holes in his boat or you're going to have to forget about a tower. Wink

That said, last month I installed a Monster Tower on my boat. Fit, finish, service, and price were all top notch.

Yeah, it was tough drilling that very first hole in my 6 month old boat, but then again, I paid for the tower and for the boat so I'll do whatever the hell I want. Laughing

Here are some "pros" to help convince dear old Dad to put a tower on his boat:

1. You can clear up a lot of clutter by putting boards in board racks instead of strewn about the boat.
2. It looks cool. Mr. Green
3. Its a great place to mount speakers and lights. (See #2 above).

Laughing

Make sure you check out the Sea Ray section of the customer photos page.

I have a pylon on my searay and there are drilled holes as well... see my profile pic...
If I had to do it again, I shouldn't even think about the pylon and go for the Monster Tower... unless it's more expensive (500€ for the pylon, 1100€ for the tower)

It looks cool and takes no space away in the boat...
You can mount boardracks, speakers and lights (which you can't on a pylon)

Prior to my buying a boat, I wanted to put some ballast in my dad's old 1973 I/O. His responses:

1. "That just means you'll have to burn more gas." (Despite owning a boat, he hates burning gas more than anything)

2. "You're just going to chew up the lake doing that." (Rough water is public enemy #2, behind burning gas of course)

3. "That might break the hull right in half." (HUH?)

These are the reasons we buy our own boats when we get old enough. Hang in there, one day you can do the same and say things to dad like, "OK, I'm gonna go weight my boat down and drive around the lake until I either swamp the boat or run out of gas. BYE."

People could eliminate most damage caused by drilling by simply putting a coat of resin on inner surface of drilled hole before mounting the hardware. Does mean u need to drill & apply resing day before mounting hardware, but very smart.
