Recently I have noticed HS O/A ole 540s in a lot of videos and was thinking about trying a couple...

I did a little search but didnt find what i was looking for.

Anyone have any tips for me or instructional advise before I go out and just wing it?

maybe start w/ Ole 3's...I'm sure the overhead handle takes some getting used to.

actually, the nature a h/s ole 5 will naturally spin you around to 5 (same with t/s). you will do more work to stop and revert yourself back to 3.

i have done a couple of these unintentionally, and my advice is this:

treat your approach just like a h/s o/a 5. if you arent solid on these, you may have some trouble.

boost straight up off the wake, the less lateral speed you have the easier the ole is.

Keep the handle extra close and low for as long as possible. when it feels like the handle is just about to hang up your spin (where you would normally handle-pass during the h/s 5), bring it up over your head in a swift up-and-down motion. this motion whips the spin around and you will start to see the landing. then if the handle is still close, it becomes incredibly similar to the landing of a h/s 5.

good luck, oh yea, it helps to grab it to keep yourself compact.

Ole': When the rider does a spin and instead of passing the handle just lifts the handle over their head.

That's from the glossary on WBer's home page Rolling Eyes

amuszyns, practice them on a trampoline. It will help you get a feel for how o/a you need to be and with how to get the handle over your head.

the only thing with practice on the trampoline, it may help with the handle motion, but the timing and pull are a little different. you need to wait a bit longer spinning behind the boat or you will rush into an invert. also the tension of the pull over your head is much harder, so really exaggerate a strong pull and controlling the handle.

if you get comfortable with that, then you'll be stompin it in no time.
